If I understand it correctly you know where your files are, but you see only numbers while before you saw pictures. This is a property association issue. Do you remember the program you had that allowed you to see the picture? If so right click on any one of your files, click on properties (bottom of box). Next to "Open with" is a button that says Change. Click on that and choose the program and click OK. Good luck and please let us know if any of what we said helped.
I don't know why your post was removed, but hope you can get help now. Just because it was posted in the wrong section is a bit too strick!!!! i hope you can get some answers to help you. Kay
I hope you have this issue resolved, technology is great when all working properly.
Hi Pat, I'm sending you a PRIVATE MAIL. Look up the top of the page and you'll see a red number next to INBOX. Love Chris
I've just read your post way down this thread, Pat, and if I understand it correctly. it is your method of showing a thumbnail picture of the design you have lost. This could be for a variety of reasons. What were you using before? eg Embird iconiser.
Yes, you're right about the thumbnail picture, but I don't use Embird. I have PEDesign Next.
have you loaded the PEDesign disc onto your computer. May need to do it again, since the Windows 10 upgrade.
If you don't remember the designs' names, you could also so a search the extension format. For example, put .pes in the search window and/or do a custom search of the entire computer.
I know roughly where some of the designs come from, for instance, when I see APE 514, I know that is Ace Points Embroidery, so I click away until I get the particular design I'm after! I don't know where I get my patience from!
Go to the search engine section and type the name of the design or what it is (example=tree) and all of your designs with that description will show up in a list and where is located in your computer. Go to the list and look for it. Hope this help
I'm not that good with computers either but when I have "lost" designsI eventually they were found in a totally different folder, Sometimes we get distracted when working with our designs, etc. and inadvertently move them into a new/different folder--don't ask me how but my son found them for me. Hope someone can explain it to you.
Yes, it should have been in the Embroidery section where people will see it. We want to help you, but it is tough to help if the question is placed in the wrong section. Please post it again with as much info as you can give us. there are folks who are very good with computers(I'm not oneof them) who will love to help you.
Can you tell us a bit more about the problem?
Have you tried a search for files with your embroidery format extention?
By the way, I don't remember seeing your question before..... I sometimes type out a post and forget to click the submit button!
Some times all it takes is a twitch of your finger to move a folder or file to another location without realizing it (ask me how I know that!). So look into some of the neighboring folders but also check your recycle bin. I've had some luck looking there and if that is were the file/folder is, it won't show up during a computer search. Good luck
Don't get discouraged, this community is here to help. 1. make a folder on your desk top and move all your downloads to it , that way your designs are there when you log on. also look in your trash can, they might be there. if so just move them out..last resort if you have a teenager around the house ask them to help you.//mm
Thanks to all of you for answering my request. I'll try and tell you what the problem is/was ! I had Windows 8 on my PC, which was a pain in the neck, then up comes a message telling me to update to Windows 10, which was free! So my son did that for me, and everything was so much better. I haven't done any machining for ages, been busy with knitting and crocheting for a change. Then I decided to embroider something, went to the PC, clicked on my file where I had a lot of designs that I would want to
embroider over and over again, but the designs didn't come up in all their glory , just design numbers, which was of no help to me at all, it would take me ages to go through them all, and I have thousands !A few I did recognise from the letters, and wrote them down so I would know where to find them! But it's not the same as having a picture of the design there, and just click on it so I can put it on to my card. I don't want my son to start fiddling about with it, in case I lose Windows 10, which is brilliant , Woe is me !!
