The no show is a must for white t-shirts so i guess it would work for quilt squares. I am a quilter want to be and one day I may attempt quilting something. Beautiful quilt for your Mom!!! Kay
Gorgeous quilt. I always use tear away stabilizer.
Your mom only saw the beauty of the quilt.
What did you do to get the blocks so even?
Thank you! I cut my square a little bigger, then did my embroidery in case I was off center a little and then cut to the size I needed for my quilt so I could center them better.
Now tell us, how much she cried with joy, when you presented her with this gift of love!
I usually use 2 layers of soft tearaway from allstitch but cut a way can be used if you have a good quality fabric. I would definitely not use a whole block of either one because it may shrink when washed. You can also cut if real close to the design. A good layer of white batting on the back side also helps keep it from showing through. It is beautiful and she will be thrilled with it. Those who don't do embroidery probably wont notice it anyway.
I can't see the cutaway shadow, and I looked closely so don't worry. I recently made one for my Great Niece and used cutaway the size of the block, it still needed a bit of stipple around the edges to help settle it down after washing as the blocks are 14" and being for a 18mth old it will get a lot of washing.. This is a super personal quilt just for YOUR mum, and she will just adore it.Made with special LOVE from her daughter. What could be better. Some times we are too hard on ourselves, i think it is a fabulous job, well done. Sandra.
Its a wonderful quilt. Your mother is going to cherish this quilt and think about all the love you put into making it for her.

It is a beautiful quilt and a terrific present.
Your was really a labour of love, mum will be delighted and treasure it.
Hugs, Roberta
What a wonderful inspirational quilt you have made for your Mum. I use tear away, I've never used cut away. I don't think your Mother will notice any of the things you have Roxanne. We are our own worst critics! Say Happy Mother's Day to her from me. Love Chris
Next time, you should have the cut-away as big as the block, maybe. That way, you won't be able to see it through the fabric. It will add a little bit of weight to your items, but don't think it should hurt anything to have that little bit of extra weight.
Thank you, I was also wondering how that would wash. I will give it a try in a smaller project
You are a sweet daughter to make this, and that is what will matter most, to your mom. She will love the quilt, and won't see any of the 'problems' you think you have...I know you are counting your blessings to still have your mom, and you made this, with all the love in your heart for her...Tell her Happy Mother's Day-Toogie
This is a fantastic quilt! I can't see the cutaway either. I would be thrilled to receive this quilt and I'm sure your mother will thrilled too. I agree that some stippling would help your concerns, but I'd give it to her just the way it is.
Gosh, what a tribute to your mother......lot of love and work in this!
This is a wonderful quilt for your mom. I zoomed in and couldn't see the stabilizer through the quilt blocks. We are our own worse critics.... your mom will love this quilt.... made with your hands and your heart.
You have done a wonderful job. Your mother will be thrilled. I am not a lover of cutaway, although many cuties use it. I have never had a success with cutaway.
Another option: If you use the cutaway for stability, leave it the same size as the block. It will be caught in your seams, and give uniform color. Some echo quilting or stippling around the embroidery here would help in what you see. I agree with the others- It's a beautiful quilt, and your Mom will love it!
I thought about that too but was afraid it would make it too papery feeling, if you know what I mean. Thank you
Most cutaway is washable, and gets softer with the washing, like what we use for articles of clothing. Fusible mesh is probably the best options for future quilt projects. But you did a beautiful job, and your mom will be tickled!
This is a wonderful quilt. Your Mom will love it I am sure. Love each and everyone of the designs you chose.
Gorgeous quilt...your Mother will love it! I always use a no-show mesh stabilizer...sometimes I use the iron-on type and sometimes I use the cut-away type...depending upon the embroidery design...
The quilt is beautiful. Anytime I use material that may show through, I use an iron-on no-show mesh. If the embroidery is heavy, I'll float the cut-away or tear-away under the hoop.
Thank you for your advice, I'd like to make other embroidered quilts and want to try different ways!
What a very sweet quilt! I zoomed the picture in, but can't see the stabilizer. I am thinking after a few washes, it will kind of dissolve away, like paper does. Your mom is going to love it even if you think you see some of the stabilizer, she won't see it! We are always our worst critics! Beautiful Job on the quilt! Hugs and Flowers!
Thank you, I hope it does dissolve over washing! I know we are our own worst critics and we just can't help it!
