Update on the kittens. The one with the kinked tail has feeling all the to the tip. Nothing they can do to straighten it. Her poor tail looks like a little pig tail curled. I just have to watch for the tail not to become necrotic. If it does they will have to dock the tail. Her front right paw is splinted from the toes to the chest.
The other kitten has the left leg has a splint from her toes to her chest. The splint is bigger than they are and the two keep toppling over trying to walk. Awe.... Poor babies... They look so sad.
They did not take x-rays because they think it is environmental. They were found in a 5 gallon bucket with the mama. They had no room to move and the vet thinks the wrist was bend funny against the bucket. Hopefully we will be able to strengthen the wrist they will walk normal. They are only 4 weeks old.
I have to go back next week to have the splint changed and see how the wrists are doing. I pray they will walk normal and have their forever homes..
Thanks for the prayers. They help and I did not have to put them down. That is the last thing I want. I will fight for these kittens and cats that have no voices. They are all special to me.
thank you for the update. I was waiting for that. My parents had once a cat with a kinked tail. He lived for 18 years. Hope everything turns out ok for the paws/toes. Big hug to them all
You are awesome, Susanne......what wonderful news on these newest babies.......how sad their beginning was but they are in good hands now!! Were you able to catch mama? Sammi has a kink at the end of his tail....he has had it since we got him.......vet didn't know if it got caught in a door or if he was born with it......makes him special..
Yes we have the mama too. She is nursing them She is feral. We are working with her to try to tame her. If not she will be fixed, given her shots and put back. The place where I got them they are feeding her and giving her a place in their garage.
I will be praying for them. Better to scratch with my dear! lol I'm sure with all the prayers and your loving care they will do great. Keep us up to date. Hugs, Gail
Dear Susanne, how wonderful of you to take these beautiful little kittens in and look after their well-being. I too hope the Vet can help you out with them all. Love Chris
P.S. I found a kitten with Polydactyl feet to show mlbell70 what a cat looks like with more than their normal toes. Most cats have 5 toes on their front paws and 4 on their back.
I hope and pray you don't have to lose any of these 5 cuties. Please keep us updated.
Praying for good news from the vet. Keep us up-to-date, Hugs from another cat lover, Maureen
Of course we will pray for them that the vet can help them.
Keep us updated !
Oh my in all y life I have never seen an entire litter with that many toes . This is very unusual. I too hope vet can fix them up and prayers for all/Lillian
I'm sure with you to care for them, their success is assured. Bless you, give them a snuggle.
Oh, Suzanne......you have such a big heart!! I will pray for the kitten angels to hover over your new crew!! I bet they are adorable, I can remember seeing all the polydactyl kitties at Hemingways house in the Kye's........told Jim this was a must when we went there on vacation....
wanted to scoop them all up and take them home.......
