WOW, Vicki, looks like your hat training really paid off! These look perfect! I bet all the guys in Jims band want one too now. I saw a comment from Dennis, awesome to see that! Hi Dennis! I planted a flower for you that I cut with one of my scissors. lol.
hey, if the model car is meant with Franklin by Ford 1913 ? it looks great.
If you have a PR embroidery machine with you caps can embroider?
Excellent work :-)
Yes, this hat goes with the hoodies I did for this guy...he just bought a 1929 Franklin and I digi'd a design off his picture of the car for the sweatshirt.....yes, I have a Melco with the cap frame.........
Bravo, Vicki! I'm so impressed! I wish I could go to the class you went to - I've only made one cap on my 6 needle during my training - with the design ending up off center, no less! I haven't made a hat since! Guess the training didn't take, LOL! But to be fair the instructor didn't even know how to put the hat frame on the machine! Seems she's better at SELLING than actually using the machine!😠
What an awful experience......when you know all the in & out secrets, your outcome is better......Jim found this woman who lives about an hour from us and she is a 20 year veteran on Melco products.....she was able to help me with all aspects of hat production from start to finish....
she actually came to the house and we had one on one all day ....... was fabulous!! I had not done hats after having a disastrous result and it was too hard and no fun, but like you, I had not had proper training.......
Great job. I never even considered there might be a different method to digitising for caps, but it makes so much sense now I think about it.
Looks really good. I hope you consider making a cap tutorial for non cap hoop folks. I would love to get one.
Very nice job there Vicki. I've done a few caps and the like in my time for a motorcycle group I used to belong to and after learning the many skills of loading the cap into the machine frame for best results I managed some good results. During this process I also learned that digitising for baseball cap designs was completely different to that for standard 'flat' embroidery, so now that you have 'let the cat out of the bag' (so to speak) I and everybody else will now know who's door to knock on when we need cap digitising work (as well as everything else).
You are so right, Dennis, I had no idea the digi was so different for hats and the gal told me if someone brings you the wrong type of hat (as you know even the brand of cap makes a difference) tell them it will either be $25.00 to stitch or $1000 because the wrong type cap can cause a huge gear issue in the machine.......I asked her why are some retail hats so full of beautiful embroidery on cheapy hats and she told me the embroidery is done before the hat is put together, so it is embroidered flat.....never even thought about that.....
They look stunning Vicki and I can see why you are so happy with them. Love Chris
You should be happy with the results. They turned out perfect. You are a fast learner, but that is no surprise.
You have a proffesional machine so hats should be a breeze. You should make men's hats for your next show. They may go over well. Kay
It is so nice when at our age (well me) when i learn something new **Good for you hugs
Great job...thinking you used hat hoop...?
Yes, Kim, I have a 16 needle Melco and a 360 degree cap attachment, so I can go all around a cap if I wish....haven't gotten that brave yet.......
