I like them both! Depends on what mood you are in and what you are trying to convey! Great Job!
These bags are very beautiful look . Update successful. However, a preference for the satin stitch.
Toogie, These are adorable bags with the cute 3D flowers. I really liked the ragged edge until the wash... so am with you on the satin stitch edge to keep it from curling up too much in the wash. I followed link back to the plain bags that you had shown us before and these flowers really do dress the bags up. Nora is quite the cute model! She has really grown!
Sharon, Nora will turn 3 next month, hard to believe already! She just got home from a trip and when she came she hugged me so tight and so long, I really knew how much she missed me. We both almost cried with joy.-lol
Yes, the bags were rather plain, without the flower. Thanks for taking a look.-Toogie
glob69-I found the flower you spoke of and added the link, for those that don't already have it, or are better at FSL than me! Thanks
I love the flower with the satin stitch, and the overall effect of it on the bag. Looks great.
I love the bag and I like the flower. I found a flower here from cute that I forgot that I had. This is the number of the design is 2334848-28107. When you download and unzip you will see that it has 3 parts. Hugs
You did a wonderful job.
I'm not sure how to search for this design number, but I thank you for your comments-Toogie
I love the satin stitch one too Toogie, love Chris
I love the satin stitch flower! I like the other one too but I think you chose the right one for this bag
Looks much neater with the satin edge. Great work Toogie. Hugs
Thank you for the update. I like the first way you did it and the satin edge. The wash made it look like a ball. Thanks for trying and posting for us to see the difference.
I liked it before the wash better too. I don't know what I expected, but I didn't expect this much fraying!-lol-Unfortunately, at some point the bag would be washed and this would be the end result, so.......the satin edge for me!
I love the flower with the satin edges, it's more elegant. Thank you very much for sharing your work and additional informations. Amitiés de France.
I hope you and others can benefit from my trials & errors. I too, prefer the satin edge.
Thank you for the update, and additional information on enlarging the flower. I have to agree the satin edge is better.. Loved the other but just not enough petal shape left after washing.
Thank you also for the link to the original post with the purse, Such a sweetie modeling your bag.
Loved you original idea for the D ring also , just sorry it didn't work out.
It should work with the tab for the D-Ring if the fabric is not too thick. It just wouldn't sew though all this denim.
The sweetie is Nora, my youngest grand-daughter. Maybe she will be happy for the frayed flower on her bag!-lol
You are right she will love the flower for her bag..Unless she decides she wants one just like her Granny (not sure what she calls you), then you can put it onto a head band for her. ;-)
I love the flower with the finished edges! I too have done the raggedy edge flower with the 4-Hers, the more you wash the fuzzier it gets! lol
I like how you used different shades of grey on the purse and flower. Getting greys to go with each other can be tricky. Nice trick in making the flower. I'll have to remember that.
Nothing is grey, all blue jean color, some faded more than others. Glad you like my flower.
Looks great Toogie..... I think it will Fray on it's own. Nice job.
Got the design--did you stitch it 3 times with each being larger than the other to stack it?
Yes, but only sizing 10% at a time. My sizes are 4.85 x 5.09 largest, middle is 3.76 x 3.93, and smallest 2.28 x 2.40.
After I stitched all 3 flowers, I attached the snap, to my smallest one only. With the cut-a-way it makes it too thick, for the snap to go through all of them. I laid them stacked, in a manner pleasing to me.
I then took the two largest and stitched together, on my sewing machine a X right in the middle, where the top small flower would cover.
I then laid my small flower on top. Be sure your snap is on at this point, if you didn't stitch the flower center! Now I sewed the sm flower through all, with tiny stitches, just to tack them altogether. I kinda traced/sewed the middle lines, of the 3 lines in each petal.
I love your bag, Toogie! The flower goes excellent with the colors. I agree, a little over and a little down. Not much, just so it looks "squared" with the corner. So pretty!!! *Hugs and Flowers to all*
PERFECT! I love your bag, with either flower. Altho your new flower is best. I am planting flowers as I read comments here. :)
Thank you for tending the flowers, sometimes they don't get their 'watering' .
Really dresses up your jean bag. And thanks for the tip on the applique flowers. I didn't have these but I do now. Can't wait to stitch them out... so much to do, so little time.
Love your jeans bag. Looks perfect. Well done:-)
Hugs, Angelika
Love the bag Toogie flower sets it off nicely position is just right
I love this, Toogie. When I made denim ITH flowers for a hat which I posted back in April, I didn't do anything much to the edges. Now it has had some wear and tear they are fraying nicely!
Yes, I agree, leave it alone. I liked before wash better. Although eventually, it will have to be washed, and then it loses the petal shape.
when I make chenille strips I use a chenille brush to rough the edges. Before that we use to wash them and throw them into the dryer.
That's what I tried but I'm glad I didn't use it. I didn't like how I lost the flower shape when it was washed and dried.
Absolutely love it.. I don't remember the bag being posted before but of course we have to consider my memory.;-)
Love the different shades of jeans and the flower you added is perfect like the finishing touch.. Thank you for sharing the details. The only thing I can suggest to get the flower edges to fringe more might be a wire bristle brush. Not what you were using of your husbands..Right? Sorry just could resist after you cute comment..
It's not your memory, don't get scared. It was in Community/Sewing as it had no embroidery. I wish there was tags there too, so you could bring up a post.......

lol-I'll have to tell hubby, if he loses his toothbrush, you suggest the bar-b-q wire br
Very creative way to make a 3d flower. Love the idea and I have to try it. Thanks for sharing such a neat idea.
Love that bag! I like the flower where it is. Well done, Toogie!
Hugs, Lidia
Yup...agree with Bev...wash it and dry it a few times...
That's what I hear and I think I'll move the flower down just a bit. I loaded it and loaded & held, the flower looks too high...I think...
machine wash and dry or wet them and rough them up. I have a set of raggedy flowers and will now go search them out.
I do remember reading someone said, after they made their baby quilts done with this edge, they washed and dried so they would fray good. It seems when we want something to fray, it won't, and when we don't want it to, it does! Thanks for the reminder Bev......are you the lady that use to come on TV with all the household hints? Are you really Heloise or Marge???-lol
Now I just adore this. Where did you get this flower design? Amazing. I've used a stiff brush purchased at my man's store--Harbour Freight.
This is the same applique flower, from http://embroidery-broderie.com I used on the red bag. The red one has the satin stitching and instead of appliqueing directly on the fabric, I stitched on WSS for the satin one, and tear-a-way for this one. I also omitted the center stitches. Like I stated above, I stopped the stitching before it started stitching the satin stitch, in the 3rd color. I did stitch the first stitches, in the 3rd color, and watched so I could stop, before the satin stitch...I know that store, its by the fabric shop.
I got my raggedy flowers at designs by JuJU, a very nice set of 12 , on sale right now too for $6.00 regularly $20.00
