My 8 y/o granddaughter and I watched a youtube video of the makings of a bean bag chair for the American Doll. Needless to say she had to make one--no not one but two--one for her cousin's doll also. We went through some scrappy fabric and found what she liked. She was torn between which she'd keep for herself and which to give away. She stitched them [with my help] at my old Kenmore and when the attention span waned in favor of an old t.v. show she was also watching took over I finished it. She did, however, whip stitch the holes closed by herself. Another use for old plastic recyclable grocery bags. Yep, that is what they used in the video--good enough for me.

What a great idea, and always great to see that crafts get passed on to the next generation!

I love to see, when the young ones are encouraged, to sew. I can't wait to teach Nora. She's still too young to know the 'danger' of the machine needle, so it will be a few more years... Your grand-daughter looks like she is serious about her work! The finished product is wonderful, love the colors and I also see that you made the footprint applique, It's a boy!. I'm afraid I didn't get mine made in time for Gus. Great job, little girl!

It is so nice when the younger ones show interest in the craft we love. She is concentrating so much on the one pictures it made me smile. Nice results.

Another budding crafter, teach her all the skills you can. She will be happy to learn them now, she has done a great job under your guidance and help. In many years to come she will be very grateful, of her time learning with you. Well done. Sandra.

What a sweet generous granddaughter she has become. You have to be so proud of her. Kudos to you for the special gift you have been giving to her. Sewing will always have special memories for her.

Sweet Grandmother to accomplish this. Perhaps you have another sewer in training. I feel we are a dyeing breed!! I like American Girl dolls so much better than Barbie. Much easier to sew for also. Kay

I am SOOOOO glad to see I am not the only one who feels this way---I am "BLESSING" some of the younger ladies at church with 99.9% of my Barbie stuff---I prefer the 18" dolls--so much easier to sew for and so much more fun. God bless you.

How cute. Love that she worked on it too and even the hand sewing. Nice to see the young people getting involved. The chair is precious.
