I have a Janome 500e,an embroidery only machine, i just love it. Having it since last November it has been used a lot, no problems so far. Today I actually oiled and serviced the machine by my self using the manual. Was quite easy, only having my husband to undo one screw which was a little tight. The machine was spotless inside and easily accessible, I accidently dropped the cleaning brush inside the bobbin area but no problem took the bottom cover off and took it out. I also have a Elna/Janome sewing/ embroidery machine , have used this for about 6 years and no problems at all I can't service that one , so needs to be done about every 18months by a mechanic. I do like the new one with all the larger hoops, and it also has some very great features. What ever you choose, personally in my opinion one of the most important things is service and repairs if needed. How far do you have to travel and the costs. involved. If you can do minor things yourself it is good. Good luck with your next machine purchase if i can help in any way send me a message. Sandra.

Have a look at the 500E a great machine but Embroidery only but very reasonably priced and has larger hoops 7.9 inches x 7.9 inches and 7.9 inches x 11 inches as well as the 5 inch x5 inch and 5 inch x 7 inch.
Does lovely work.

You will find the Janome brand exceptional! I loved my little 350e (and still do) and it has been superseded. A Janome dealer can tell you how many years they guarantee they will make parts after discontinuing - seems like maybe something like seven years (??). They know it's a quality product and people hold onto it for years and years, so I wouldn't let that stop me. Also, you could purchase two spares of the bobbin holder, cover plates and spool pins and have a good bit of confidence! Hope you make a great decision and have fun with your choice.

Brenda often people ask similar questions here. My advice on buying a machine is... That the after care service is important. So will you be able to get your new machine serviced easily and do you have faith in the after care service. I'm sure if I had shopped about I could have got my machines closer to home and maybe cheaperBUT the after sales support is exceptional and well worth the long journey to get it. As Sue said the machine you mentioned is discontinued but dealers do have brilliant offers on machines they have taken in part exchange for new machines. Sorry I'm trying to reply with a small child bouncing on my knee and on a phone. Do let us know what you do get

Sue is absolutely right, they stopped making the 12000 but if your able to buy a second hand one, They are a very good machine, I have had a few of them including the 12000. I did not care for it @ all so I upgraded & went to the 15000 & I enjoy using it very much. I have had the 9900 & the 10000 upgraded to the 10001 the 11000 & the 12 & now I have the 15000. Of all of these machines I like the 9900 & the 15000 the best. I wish you the best of luck with your decision. ~hugs Loralye~

I thought that your Janome 12000 was defective and Janome and your dealer upgraded you to the 15000...I had a similar problem with the 11000SE and Janome replaced it 3 times in one year with a new machine and ultimately couldn't fix the problem so refunded my money...that is when I got the BabyLock Ellisimo...

I have a Janome MC15000 which I have had for a year. As I understand it the MC12000 (of which there is only one kind) is no longer made. It has been replaced by the MC14000.

Hi Brenda, I can't help you at all with your answer but I'm sure someone will come along soon who is 'in the know.' It may be worth looking for a comparison website via Google or similar search engine. Also the manufacturers brochures should answer your question on the differences the 'n' makes to the model. Anyway, it's worth awaiting one of our knowledgeable types to come along before you go out spending your hard earned money.

I downloaded Janome's brochure but could find no reference to the letter 'n' after the 12000. I would have thought that your local Janome dealership should be able to answer that question for you though.
