Hi Ch,
akabowers and I have been discussing this for a few days now. It is in Community somewhere, I find it by going to 'my answers', which won't help you.
In summary, though, I have an Innovis 1200 and got PE lite bundled with the machine at purchase. Lucky me. It has 35 built in fonts (quick, easy to resize). You can manipulate the shape and separation of the text. You can download designs from the web, 4x4 and 5x7, print them off etc. Colour translation can be tricky but I make up my own most of the time anyway. You can combine designs with other designs or text, but can't edit designs or split them (well, I don't think so). You can import images (eg. clip art)and autopunch them. You save the designs to a blank card and put that in the machine. Easy. Don't know what I would have done without it.
It includes a trial version of PE Design 7, but you can't save or write to your blank card, or as far as I can see use it in any practical way.
Hope this helps.
Jill
