Hmmm, if it is the round turntable glass plate, I would just trace around the glass plate...add seam allowance, sandwich front and back like for a quilt, grid quilt, perhaps add a design in the center...and then put in a zipper around the edge large enough for the plate to be slipped in and out...if you didn't need it round...just do a square...

We put the turntable from our microwave in between the folds of a towel so it doesn't rattle when we are on the move. Never thought about a custom cover.

what would you come up with Sue ,I thought of a cover like the ones you put over your slow cooker lid when cooking cakes I guess like a shower cap only made with fabric

I think that would work well.

I am thinking it is what I was asked for a few weeks ago. Apparently it is the in thing at the moment to put your dish in it and place in the Microwave and when you take it out you won't burn your hands.
Everything must be Cotton no polyester or it can catch on fire. This is what I made.
Do a Google search for Microwave Bowl Holders there is a you tube and a few sites with the basic pattern then tweek it to fit what you are doing.
Hope this helps.
