I took some random hexagons on holiday to stitch together by hand. (English Paper Piecing.) I thought hand stitching might not stand up well to use in a bag, so I've now machined them together (and to a sort of compressed foam backing) using a fancy stitch.

Gorgeous purse Sue. Thank you for showing us. Our brains work even on vacation even if we don't want them to. Glad yours is anyways.

Looks good, one of these days I want to try some of the Paper piecing, something I have never done. Just not enough time in the day LOL but always like to try something I have never done. Reminds me just a little of yo-yo piecework/Lillian

Paper piecing is really relaxing and it does grow quite quickly. Not quite as antisocialas spending time with the sewing machine!

And such a terrific project is now completed. Great work Sue, the fly stitch to join them is very fancy. Well done. Sandra.

Very nice, love the finished bag. Great idea to reinforce them with the machine. Plus, you got to use one of your decorative stitches that we seem to ignore sometimes. Fantastic work.

I have an ambition to use all of my decorative stitches by the time I wear the machine out!

That was a great idea to use a fancy stitch to strengthen them. I often wondered how those old quilts that were totally stitched by hand held together for so lond. But then, a purse needs more strength.
