Oh what a beautiful result. The colour combination is stunning. Job sew well done.
Cute, cute, cute! Love your solution, to what was a problem, for some. Thanks for informing us . I will store it in my 'memory-lol' for future. I have never tried one of these ITH. I have made some dish towels/dresses before, on a regular machine though
I am so glad you did that. I bought this but haven't made it yet. I really like the way it looks. And so smart.
Ms. Queen of Hearts, would you be so kind to give a little information as to how you added this extra fabric and finished it? At what point did you stop the embroidery process? Did you sew the extra piece with your sewing machine? I would like to use your great idea and would like to have a little more information as to how to do this. Thank you in advance!! It's a great idea!
Carol
I'm not Ms. Queen of Hearts, but I will tell you what I did to add fabric. I cut a piece of fabric to fit the width of towel, plus a bit to turn under. I turned under one long edge about 3/8th and pressed. The other edge I sewed to the cut edge of the towel. I used a big 1/4th seam . Folded my fabric over the towel and made sure the long edges matched and sewed it down. Then found the middle of the towel (fabric) and started pleating. The instructions aren't real clear at this point. Note where the bottom of the embroidery design flares out, where it becomes a bow. The towel must be laid into this area. I had to turn the edges of the towel (fabric) under 1/4 inch towards the back. I set my machine real slow and had to make sure the foot didn't get caught in the gathers. I held it down with my hands and some masking tape. Keeping my hands out of the way but holding the pleats down. It worked real well and guess what I'm making for Christmas presents? I have 27 of them cut out. In the future, for this design I would use looser (is that a word) woven towels. For my heavier towels I have started making the fabric 4 1/2 to 5 inches wide. Hope this helps Meccajazz.
Thank you so very much for taking your time to respond. I appreciate your help very much!! I'm so anxious to start making some of these towels--I think they're so cute. I will definitely use your suggestions!! Carol Meccajazz
Just want to say Queen of Hearts, that if you had not come up with this darling solution I would be in a pickle. I made one yesterday and I think the problem is the quality of our towels. In the tutorial picture, that towel looks like it has a bigger weave, real loose and soft. I bought real nice towels because I want these for gifts. No way could I get that towel gathered up and in that space. Because of you I added the fabric to the end of the towel and sure glad I did, barely made it. Today I will make another one and do little pleats, I think. Thanks again.
You are most welcome. I hope this works for others too that want to make this design but just cant get the towel into the allotted area. The designs in this set are so cute but not practical for those of us limited to a 5x7 hoop.
Yes, on other designs I have, the bottom where the towel goes is inches wide, which is great. These other little buggers are inches or less.
Don't know why my numbers didn't show up. Should say 6 inches and 4 inches. Lock must have been on and I didn't notice.
I really like the dress topper! Is there a pattern out there for me to purchase? So cute! Carol in North Dakota
I love the way you did this one. Not so plain looking. Good job, Teresa. Hugs, Gail
Thanks Gail, I think I will go back and try another style using this method. It also gives the towel a little more length this way.
You have made a very stunning towel topper, I like how you made this one. Great thinking, Sandra.
GOOD for YOU love it hugs:):)Love how you did it Goooooooooo Girlyyyyy
Love this, It makes it dressier. This is sharp looking and love colors!
Well done on figuring that out. It looks brilliant. Love the black and red combination on this one
I definitely like it. Congrats on finding a brilliant solution for the towel bulkiness.
bargain embroidery has a sitewide sale $1.00 for designs $5.00 for combos
It is a good thing that I didn't have time to look at the whole site or I would have spent much more than I did. LOL.
A very good idea, no doubt we will all use it, thank you for sharing.......Ann
I broke needle after needle trying to sew through the gathered up towel but I really liked this little dress so I wasn't about to let it defeat me. I hope that someone else can use the idea.
ribblev, if everyone who commented clicked on your little orange flower, your number there would have been 32 instead of 14, and your overall number, by your cutie ribblev would be 765, at the time I commented here. New Cuties may not understand this but older Cuties do. When I comment and it submit, I go down the page and 'pass out flowers' by clicking on each comment. It's a way we water each others flowers and keep growing. Such a small thing to do for all the help and support we give each other. I wish all Cuties would try this, to help each other grow. Soon you would have your first thousand!
