I have not had a Topaz 30, but love HusqvarnaViking machines. I started with a 1+, traded up to a Designer 1 and loved it so much that I bought a second one. Eventually sold one of those and bought a Designer Diamond. Later traded the Designer 1 for a Ruby Royale which had some issues and I never bonded with her so traded her for a Designer Diamond Royale which I thoroughly love. Just recently I sold the DD to sister in law and bought the Designer Epic which is a awesome machine. I am lucky to have wonderful ladies to work with at the Gallery store and have not had service issues. I have worked on other brands and would not change to another brand as in my opinion Vikings are a lot more user friendly that either Brother or BabyLock embroidery machines. My advice would be to test drive it and then decide. Good luck with your decision.
I have a Viking Topaz 30 that I bought from my girlfriend. She had 2. I have no idea why. Anyway, I love it. It is a work horse. I sewed out 14 big hoop fsl reindeer, one right after another, without a thread break or hitch of any kind. I have made ITH Cross Body bags and embroidery of every kind. I will be selling it though because hubby bought me a different machine that does the big hoops. I also has a Viking Designer SE but I'm keeping it even though it does smaller embroideries, I love to sew on it and do the smaller embroideries.
Mary you have asked a question that's given some interesting replies. Please let us know what you decide. I have to say that both my machines were preloved and bought from my dealer. One was his demo machine and the other was a part exchange from one of his customers who had hardly used the machine. I remember him saying he couldn't understand why they had parted company with a hardly used machine and bought a much more expensive one. The more expensive one was a new series of machines
I haven't had a Topaz, I have changed from Viking to Baby Lock. Much
better machine and our dealer is the best. I have 3 Viking machines and will be selling 2 of them soon. If you have a Baby Lock dealer near you go check them out.
Our Viking dealer has very bad reputation. After checking differeant makes decided on a Babylock.Have not regretted my decision yet.
I had a Topaz 20 and hated it. It was hard to manipulate, it sewed and embroidered fine once you were able to put the design where you wanted it.....but I got rid of it because of the frustration of having to go back and forth between screens to check that the design would stitch where I wanted it to....I bought a Babylock, I had a Babylock in the past and just needed to upgrade....
At one point I was looking at the Viking product line and I joined a Yahoo group of Viking owners. I gained a lot of info about the ticky little problems they were having with their machines and with technical support at their dealers. You might want to go have a look.
