Good news, when Hancock Fabric in my town went out of business and shut the doors it left a big gap in where to get decent material for sewing and crafting. Hobby Lobby and Walmart didn't exactly fit my needs. Reading todays paper I see Joann Fabrics is coming to town, will be in the same building as Hancocks and will also retain the employees and hire new ones. There hasn't been a Joanns near me in years so now I'm ready to start clipping those coupons and buying more things I don't need. lol Not sure exactly when they will open the paper says in the fall. I'm excited.

Oh,I hope the same thing happens here in Arkansas! I too have worn the threads bare at Hobby Lobby. Ready for a nearby fabric store--our Joann's stores are over 100 miles away!

I hope something like that happens for me. I'm 20 miles from a Walmart, west, east or south. Where our Hancock's was, was 35/40 miles away, but there is a Hobby Lobby and WM's are there, too. I hope if and when I need Avery's Baby Dry, I will be able to find it, 'locally'. ...I can't blame you for being excited.

I buy a lot online if I can't find what I want in the store but it is so much more fun to touch the fabric.

Glad for you. After Hancock left here there were quite a few yrs with no where to go without driving along way to purchase fabric. Now at least Hobby Lobby and a Walmart sells fabric close by/Lillian

It's always nice to have more than one place to choose from.

I'm glad you will have access to fabric, trims and any other goodie you might need. Hopefully, it won't be too long and you will be able to use those coupons.

I will have to make room but I'm sure I will buy just a "few" things or go just to "look".

Good news that JoAnn will be rehiring those who lost jobs. My local JoAnn will be moving to a new store in early 2007. I will assume--and hope--all departments will be expanded.

I have also heard that Michael's Crafts has bought the Hancock brand and intellectual property from bankruptcy court so it may live on after all just under a new name

AuntAnnie by AuntAnnie 17 Aug 2016

Currently, Michael's and JoAnn are next door to one another. If one store doesn't have what I want, the other is likely.
