It is very pretty, I use linen or linen polyester stiffened with starch before I do my embroidery. I also check out the curtain department for materials I usually can get a heavy fabric which is ideal for embroidery.

Do you sew the pieces and then attach to the fabric or embroider right on the fabric?

Oh I think you did a lovely job. Will it not press out flat with steam iron and pressing cloth. I'm wondering if perhaps the fabric shrunk a little when you wet the WS stabilizer to dissolve it. I think I would have chosen a med weight tear away stabilizer /Lillian

Lillian , I wash it and then I let everything dry . Then I sew everything together .

I like your doily, the design is beautiful. I use cotton and water soluble stabiliser.
