At first glance , I knew this was time involved!! Wonderful job. Kay
I think this is the best project to come along in awhile. Love yours. I tried the 2 colors, but want to do the top with border.
I haven't done one with a border yet, but yesterday I saw a double one. The basic mat was topped with a smaller version.
I just love this!!! .........next Project/creation please, Well Done
well done aren't these gorgeous I have one on my to do list after I finish the boys quilts.. Hope mine turns out as nice as yours..
Wow that is beautiful - is the bottom section cut out as the finished look first then the other section made and stitched to it, or is it in sections and then caught together. Great idea
A beautiful result with great Christmas colours. Stunning effect. Sew well done.
I know that I'm an old misery especially when it comes to Christmas but I must add to the praise of others here for this wonderful piece of work. Of course, the quality of the finish is just superb. My one word of caution with such craft projects is to always be mindful of the inherent fire risk that comes with using lighted candles without the safeguard of a fire retardant candle base. Of course, there are many battery operated simulated candles on the market which could be used as an alternative but these may not float everyone's boat. Just my word of caution for a happy and safe Christmas (or any similar occasion) to you all.
I have battery candles on order, but had to use a real one for the picture.
I went right off the real thing when a friend had one of those fancy ones in a glass container explode. Luckily she was in the room at the time and was able to save everything but the rug and the coffee table it was standing on.
OH DEAR Dennis, do we oldies always have to be such party poopers? LOL!!!
You echoed my very thoughts as soon as I saw it.
We have had so many house fires here in the last few weeks, people have lost everything as their houses couldn't be saved, and it begs the question, why?
Sue I am so very glad to know you already thought about the safety issues, as it does look really, stunningly attractive.
I cut the centre out of my real candles, to the size of a circular plastic, battery, candle, and I plop one down inside the candle, no-one can tell the difference if you get the candles that flicker like real ones.
hugs to you both xxxxx
Love your fabric choices. I have the pattern but haven't made one yet......better start soon, I need 5 as Christmas gifts! lol
Sue this looks great and will be a fine centrepiece of your large dining table
This is great Sue! Really lovely! Are you going to give us information on how we can acquire this design?!!
I worked it out from a picture I'd seen, but there are tutorials on Youtube. Just search for Origami Candle Mat.
