Candle mat.

I just could not resist digitising one of those candle mats. I chose one that has 9 parts (I love uneven numbers), which requires a 40 degree base. I went for a regular square-ish outline to try it out. I have seen lovely shaped petals used in those mats but I wanted to keep it simple. I made ITH parts. And added lines to see them together. Can be done ITH as well, but I used a sewing machine.
Not to waste good fabric on a wild idea I used just one layer of those cheap dish cloths, which looks a bit boring. Well, it lies flat, condition #1. The parts can be made in a 150x150 mm hoop - or larger of course. And I think it looks promising.

I'll do it properly later, with two nice fabrics, as I think it's worth it.

This concept looks very, very nice. I really like it on the square base.

Excellent piece. I think the 40 degree's is just right. Odd number of petals looks best.

Where can I buy this design? I have the patterns for the wreath, but I love ITH better.

Great Job!!!

Candle mat mania........................and I blame that Mrs. Spendlove! Seriously though, it has started a project trend which has produced beautiful items and I thank all who have contributed thus far.

Ah, Mr D, I am afraid some things are as catching as a common cold: finger and glove puppets, ITH soft toys, mug-rugs, ITH zip purses in all shape and sizes, showing off scissor collections :) Some trends are more long-lived than others. But with Christmas coming I think we'll see a lot more candle mats :).
And when digitised they sew out so fast and flawless.

You are, of course, so right and I do love seeing all these creations that you Cuties create. Most of these things are beyond my capabilities and so I shall just have to await the next scissor challenge..........lol

Caroline..................I've seen photographs of your extensive scissor collection and you could be in the running for first place.......................well that's what Sue told me!

Wow, digitized. Yes, to me it is hard to digitize. Can't wait to see it in colors.
