I love it when a plan comes together. I have started it and with everyone's help and advise, it is coming together perfectly. I will post a picture when its done.
Thank you all for your help, I couldn't have done it without you.

...adding a note to Meganne's instructions...rather than cutting individual dark and light squares....take a dark strip and a light strip, and sew them together...whatever the size square you choose...just say the strips are each 3.5"...after they are stitched together...cut across the strip at 3.5"...that way you will already have a dark and a light square already stitched together...then sew two of your cut strips together and you will have your 4 patch block... and will save a heap of time...
Yes, definitely use strip sets. All those individual squares would drive me nuts.
Thank you, I had this part figured out, just wasn't sure on all the sizes to cut.
I did say I'm no quilter! LOL!!!
Besides, if I remember correctly, it did my head in trying to work out how long the strip of fabric needed to be to get all the squares. :-)))
I just wrote out the instructions for you and lost the lot when I tried to post it!!! Aaaaaargh!!!!
OK, patience Margaret, count to ten thousand.
Dear friend, with all the brilliant things you create this will be a breeze, trust me, you don't need to be a quilter, it is all common sense.
Firstly, you will need to cut 24 light squares probably 3.5 x 3.5 inches
Then you will need to cut 24 dark squares also 3.5 x 3.5 inches.
Next you will stitch one light square to one dark square (twice) using a scant 1/4" seam Don't forget to press the seam towards where the darker colour is.
Now, flip one pair around and stitch one pair to the next pair, making a block of four with opposite colours together.
After you have stitched all 24 x 6 inch blocks it is time to cut the large squares 6.5" x 6.5" times 7. Here you will have to really follow the picture for
Now you will join 1 light/dark block either side of one pumpkin block making a 3 block strip times 5.
The two end sections will only have 1 pumpkin and 1 four block.
Now cut the rest of the large pumpkin squares, 5 squares probably 7.5 x 7.5" (Not sure on this point) these you will cut in half diagonally from corner to corner.
Here you will have to really follow the picture for where to attach these triangles.
One thing you will need to plan in advance is how you are going to finish the outside edge. Most people attach a fabric backing by joining the right sides together, leaving a gap to pull it through to right side out. A nice finish is to top stitch in all the seams, call ed stitch in the ditch but you have to be very careful to keep your work flat and not end up with big crinkles on the other side.
I hope this helps a little, if not a lot, but my friend I reckon you will Whiz it in!!!
Hugs n love, me
Thank you Meganne. I have copied and pasted this info to an Excel spreadsheet.
Its the common sense that isn't kicking in. I am sure once I start I will shake my head and wonder what was so hard.
Hugs back
You got very good advice from smokey12 I could not do any better good luck you will be surprised just how easy this will go together looking forward to seeing the finished article.
you need a Rotary Cutter and a Quilters Ruler That way you can cut the Blocks easy .The Size all depends on the Size of the Runner. You got 4patch Blocks, square Blocks and Side Triangles.Try and google PINTREST.I hope this helps you Hugs Ursula
Thank you, I have all the stuff to make it and found the runner on Pintrest, but to buy not to make.
I am not a quilter either , but I want to be one. Good luck! Kay
It's a wonderful pattern. I'm sure it will look beautiful in Christmas fabrics.
This is a 4 patch with solid squares put on point or in diagonal rows with half square triangles. I can figure out the math for you, but I need to know the final size you want. You need a 1/4 inch foot.
Thank you, I will send you a PM with the info Hugs
I do have a 1/4" foot.
I could see the 4 patch and the large square but I could use the math already figured too!
