Just make sure the pattern you are buying or sewing says FSL or free standing lace and then when you stitch it on WSS (water soluable stabilizer) it won't fall apart. Some of the lace designs are meant to be sewn on organza or some type of transparent fabric and you have to watch and see which one it is and then there are no problems. Your question made perfectly good sense to me.;)
There are NO let me repeat NO dumb questions! I want to thank you for asking I love all the helpful answers, I have learned also from your question thanks, Lisa
Look at the snowflakes I posted a day ago dk they were stitched on WSS Then soaked n warm h2o with a little dishwashing liguid, rinsed & dried. WSS is dissolved snowflake still there *4U. There r no dumb questions, unless it's something like, can u tell me what my name is? LOL. *4u
Oh lbrow, I have to disagree. There are some days I don't think I do know my name. a*4U :)
Thanks. May be no dumb questions, but still feel dumb asking. I'll just tell myself I'm having a "blonde" moment. I like that better than the other moments. hahaha
There are no dumb questions.Ask as many as you like until it is clear in your own mind.If you use true free standing designs you will be able to wash them. Think about it- you have to wash the wss out of your design! If you are not sure, then embroider the design on to the dress, using normal stabilizer.Have fun.
If the design is truly freestanding it can be washed without falling apart. I'd hand wash delicate doll clothes anyway. If it is just a border it should be stitched on fabric of some kind. No dumb questions, so no forgiveness needed. Hope this helps.*4U
I would hand wash the dresses too but I never know what other people will do. :) My true freestanding lace do you mean all edges meet somewhere on the design?
If it is a Free standing lace design it will say so. If it doesn't say the design is Free Standing then it wasn't digitized to stand alone and should be stitched on fabric.I am familiar with the site you named. If you tell me which borders you'd like to use I'll go to the site and check them out for you.
You don't have to stitch the borders on WSS, you can stitch them on net or tuille, I have also stiched designs direct onto material satin etc. Hope this helps
I have stitiched others directly on the fabric but some of these were so lovely I wanted them to be able to hang freely. Thanks. I hadn't thought of using net or tuille. Brain fade I guess. :) :)
