They look great. So kind of you to take the time to make something for those in need
You are an angel to do for others in need, such a kind heart you have. These will be greatly admired and appreciated by all who wear these beautifully made clothes. Bless you. Sandra.
I love all the jackets you have made and love you for your generous heart. Besides being needed they are also very nicely made. Can I ask what pattern you used for the bottom one with the hood? I need to make a jacket for my little Gus. He is 8 months now.
It was a pattern from Ottobre, winter 2006. But I made some alterations in the hood as my remnants were not large enough to make a pointed hood, not even for a rounded one with one seam in the middle. And the red is the same pattern but there was no more red for a hood, hence the small straight collar.
Well, you have done a nice job with what you had. I figured they were off the same pattern just a different view. We don't have Ottobre patterns here but I will have to check out the McCalls or Simplicity patterns.....maybe I can find one on the net/web/blogs.
Thank you for caring. There is so much need and your items are a gift of love.
Imagine just how much could be accomplished if each of us tried to give some form of service to someone in need, on an ongoing basis. Even small things mean a great deal to people who have little, or even for those who do not get visits, being able to share conversation with them is a huge gift when they sit in silence or only hear the voices on the TV or radio for weeks at a time. Hope many will take the opportunity to think about how we each could reach out to help others during this season of giving and hopefully to carry it though to other seasons also. I know many here already do things like what Martine is providing. There are always people in need. I loved seeing that Dolly Pardon is stepping up and reaching out to help those who have lost homes and all they had in the Tennessee fires- $1000 a month for each family until they are able to get back on their feet again. Hope all who are looking for ways to help others, that their hearts and minds will be touched to know who around them could use help, visits or other needs that may perfectly fit with what each person is able to give. May all lives be touched in the process. Thank You Martine for recognizing the need and creating a gift that will mean more than words can tell to an asylum seeker with not much more than the clothes they are wearing. Thank You, Pam
Thank you for those words. Some things may just be a drop in the ocean in our eyes but to the person involved it may mean a tiny bit of hope and joy.
Thank you for caring for these children. You may have taken scraps of fleece, but you have crated a goldmine of warmth and they will be wrapped in love thanks to you and your generosity.
What wonderful gifts you have created! You have blessed lives already as I see you have touched the hearts of many Cuties. May you and others like you be given the means to continue to help and support those in need.
Good on you, for using your marvelous talents to make these beautiful items. These will not only warm their bodies, but hearts as well.
Martine you are a star and your gifts will be remembered by them. I agree with all jrob has said
God bless you for that. I can't imagine being a refugee without a place to feel even safe. I feel sure that their gratitude for these will be etched on their hearts forever and you, if not by name, have become a part of their new story.
For our church it is an ongoing thing. Some parishioners are at the centre every Tuesday and/or Thursday to sort and give away 1 set of clothes to everyone. Most is hand-me-downs from children or grandchildren. So my contribution is very small. But I love doing something with that mountain of fabric and leftovers that my kids would probably dump when I am no longer here.
