I copy the colour chart and put it in a Word document.
I take the download out of table format and add a heading that makes sense to me.
I then format the name to Heading 1 and make a Contents page.
I have like items stored in each word document. ie one Alphabet or Christmas designs, etc.
I know rather fiddly, but I am a perfectionist and I do not know how to download the colour chart as a pdf.
I suggested MW Snap as a way to get the color charts. I don't think I explained how it works clearly. You only snap what you want, not the whole screen. There is no cleaning up after. You have only the color chart. I have been using this program for over ten years. It is easy when you just frame what you want and snap it. I use it for any sites that don't include the charts or even jpgs in the downloads. It sounds like other methods being used are a lot of work. I'm not trying to sell this program. only trying to help.
I don't own any cataloging software, so what I do is probably old-fashioned, but it works for me. When I have a picture of it on my screen, I take a screen shot by holding down the Ctrl button, the Alt button, and the PrtSc button. Then I open Paint, and paste it there, and crop out all the stuff I don't want, and then save it in my selected folder. It gives me the original colors that I can match because sometimes my software makes my colors look a little nutty.
I think what she is asking is...a way to download the color charts without doing a screen save picture...or a copy paste...or any other method way of copying the color chart...what we are wanting is just a one click download of the color chart just like we can one click the design format to download...no extra steps to copy and paste or open another program just to get the color chart.
My husband got me something called MWsnap. I think you can get a free version. You can take a picture of anything on your computer screen. So I just take a MW snap of the print out and put it in a folder with my download. I also include pictures of the designs. I love MW snap and use it all the time. I even use it for recipes.
Yes...lots of ways to snapshot the color chart but they all take other "steps" to get the color chart...what we are looking for is a way to just one click a color chart like we one click the design format to download...no extra steps required...
The newer designs have the .jpg option. It would take a LOT of time for the older ones to have that same option. With the demands of the users from all her websites, I am sure it is too much of an undertaking to provide quality new designs and add .jpg's to the thousands of old designs. I hope you understand. Have you seen the .jpg files?
You are so right, Sewmom...not sure why Miss V couldn't add the color chart moving forward with new designs so we could click on them just like the file format or .Jpg...would much rather have a color chart than just a .Jpg! It would be especially nice if she could include the color charts in the zip file for complete sets...alphabets take sooo long to get all of the color charts...just sayin!
MW Snap does not take extra steps since you only frame the parts you want not the whole screen. I just send it to desk top and put it in it's folder. Since she was looking for an easy way since instant download is not offered this is easy.
I feel your pain....I do not consider a design or set complete without the color charts...I do not necessarily use them all the time, but I feel they should come with the design or set...that said, if you are talking about a Cute site or sister site...unfortunately you have to do each one separately as a snip or pdf print file or other...it is certainly challenging...I have made the suggestion to Miss V on numerous occasions that color charts be made available as a one-click download like the format design files are...still keeping my fingers crossed that one day she will be able to do this...until then...sadly it is one at a time...
I agree it is pain not being able to download a colour chart when you download a design. I don't want to print out designs unless I am using them at the time. As for colour variations PES seems to be the most accurate I have found so even though my machine is JEF I tend to download PES as the computer translates the colours better.
For question one. You can ask right here and a picture of the design would be helpful.
As far as the color chart I usually download the picture of the pack with it. That helps me choose the colors.
Not all designs on Cute come in a pack. This is true even for alphabet/letters.
Some of the newer designs come with a .jpg as a possible download. The rest would need either use of the Snipping tool, Print Page, Printing, or downloading the file type that uses the true/original design colors. Other file types may be translated from the original work. I always download 3 file types when possible. That gives me color options and a backup file in case I do something silly like delete the .pes file.
If you are having trouble, you could ask in the Q&A section if it is about the website or here in the Community if it is a general question one might ask of any embroidery website.
