Recycled lower trouser legs.

Hubby had a tear at the knee of his trousers. I did not want to make another bag, notebook cover or pencil case (my gift drawer has enough of those) so I did this skirt. Could cut 6 parts out of 3 of the front and back legs and had one remaining to cut the top part - not without a seam. To add a bit of fun I digitised a flower for the front and added two flaps at the back (should have made them shorter - nice to know for next time).

Very clever looks great.
Probably took more time cutting it out than it would have from a piece of fabric but well worth it.

Fabulous upcycle! This is a great idea. You really come up with the best ideas. If the back flaps really bother you, just stitch on them! I think they are fine as is.

Thank you. I've been thinking about adding a button, maybe a stitched one?.

pennyhal2 by pennyhal2 21 Jan 2017

Would the button be uncomfortable to sit on?

Great job. Does your husband not know that it is fashionable to have holes in your jeans? :-)

This little skirt is adorably cute! I love the little flower, too. No one would guess what you made it from. Lucky little girl, that your hubby tore his pants!-lol

This is an adorable skirt. I love the little extra touches with the embroidery and faux pocket flaps. What a wonderful recycle!

Excellent - I've been on a denim recycling theme this week as well. Great minds think alike!

This was a thin quality, much more fit for this small skirt than the usual denim.
