I have an Elna Machine. I have only used a USB to transfer my designs from my computer to the machine. I had to format the USB, but I am sorry, I can't remember how I did that. Once the USB is formatted, I plug it into my computer, save the design. There are two folders on my USB, the first one says MyEmb and then inside that one is Designs, save it to the Designs.
Then all I do is plug the USB into the embroidery machine, click on the USB Icon and open up the design.
Did you not get a manual with your machine...it should give the instructions for this.
Make sure you are saving the designs in .jef format.
Hugs
To format your usb all you need to do is make sure you put it in your machine, turn it on, after a minute it will be ready to put in your computer.
Thank you, its been about 4 years since I had to format one, so appreciate your help.
Hmmm...are you able to hit the "save" button when you try to download the designs but do not know where they are downloading to? If this is the case, they are probably in your "Downloads" folder under My Computer in Windows Explorer...there should be an icon that looks like a file folder...click on it and it will open up Windows Explorer where you can find your C: drive. As for getting designs to your machine, I think Karryn might have answered this.
Is there a disc that came with your machine? It should be aucutools. Check your manual for direct link to pc instructions
My 500e came with a disc that I installed that allows the computer to talk to the machine. Once installed you open the design ( in your machines format) in the program. If it is the same as the janome version You can then make minor adjustments , change colours etc, then you choose write to machine or USB. You can send it to the machine memory so it will be stored on the machine or you can send it to a USB plugged into your machine.
I have never used my computer to hook up to the machine. I prefer a USB. I only load a few designs on that. When you say you can not download the design, what do you mean? It does not load in your computer?
Do you have the design on your computer screen while you are trying to get the design onto your machine
I have removed one of your postings its something that happens sometimes so I wouldn't worry about it. Could I ask have you done any machine embroidery before?
Due to moving its ages since I used my big machine that downloads to the machine from my laptop. Just check out where the design could go to ie desktop, save it in documents or is there a indication that there is a g drive or similar. Sorry I'm very rusty on this one. It is also possible that you are trying to download a design that's too big for your machine. Machine embroidery can be frustrating when your trying to get set up and going but great fun when its all functioning properly. Just remembered a small lad (neighbours then 10 year old grandson) sitting at the bottom of the road waiting for me to come back from work so he could come and sew with me again as he had been round having fun embroidering
sorry this is a duplicate not sure why it is duplicating I only hit it once. Must be today is just a bad day
