I wonder if you got your Janome 500e? It was likely to be made in Japan. Janome also owns Elna nowadays. Brother makes it's machines in Taiwan and China. I have recently been talking to an older man who has been a machine tech. for 35 years and he likes the Janome, so I think that is a good indicator.
According to Wikipedia Janome machines are manufactured in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand as are a lot of brands these days :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan...
Years ago a friend who worked for a Janome dealer visited Janome in Japan . At the time they visited there was a section in the factory where they saw Pfaff machines being made. I don't think that would be the only instance of machines being made at the factories of other brands.
I am very happy with my machine it is an Elan but Janome makes them, I am finding them easy to learn on and one thing I would recommend is finding a dealer that is close so that you can go there whenever you have a question or one that will answer your questions over the phone. I would recommend them to anyone.
Mary, I am sorry that I do not know anything about Janome machines. Just wanted to say how happy I am to see you here on Cute.
Tell us what 20% is holding you back so we can address those concerns. Seems all of us are in agreement about purchasing from a dealer. The only exception for me would be buying from a friend who I know took good care of the machine. Hugs. Nan W
My only comment about changing brands is if you already have purchased accessories for your Brother machine, they will not fit another brand and you will have to repurchase. Good luck with your decision. Hugs. Nan W
I AGREE TO BUY FROM A DEALER AS YOU NEVER WANT TO BE CAUGHT TO BOX IT ALL UP AND SHIP FOR SERVICE. Sorry did not know this was caps. Kay
Mary as long as you get good support and service which is most important for you. Are you also close enough to keep going back asking questions and getting demonstration on how to do things if you are not sure. What machine are you still deciding on? Sandra.
Mary what are the reasons that your not convinced by the dealer?
Please make it 100% so you get tech and class support to get the best out of your machine. I've bought all but 1 machine from a dealer and never regretted those purchases. Let us know what your final decision will be so we can all celebrate with you.
The 20% is because I would like to find a Brothers dealer and compare. But i still can not find one.
