There is a huge amount of satisfaction when you have made your first item. I just wish we could see your work. Happy sewing.
We've all been new at it at one time or another. My darling husband said that he was afraid to take off his skivvies when I first started because he was afraid that I would embroider on them. I would have only put front/back ;)
You'll get it. Just keep trying different types of blanks. T- Shirts, any clothing that no longer fits or serves you, dish towels, wash cloths, I monogrammed all of the car washing towels when I first started practicing. We love to help and have new friends join us.
P.S. I take pictures on my phone, email them to myself and then download to here, if that helps.
I'm so proud of you! Kudos for trying and succeeding. Keep telling us about you projects and ask questions any time you need help. Hopefully someday you will be able to post pictures too.
I always place a little tulle on top of the towel before the topper wash away. Then trim it close to the design when finished. It keeps the nap from poking through and the tulle is soft and invisible to the eye. Makes everything look neat... Stay neat through washing after washing too. Good luck!
Congratulations on your first coaster...the best is yet to come..big welcome to Cute!
Well don't stop now Arkridia, you are on a roll. You will be amazed at how many great things you can embroider. Hopefully once you get a camera you can download the projects you are making. Love Chris, Newcastle, Australia
P.S. A big Aussie welcome from me, if I haven't already welcomed you.
If your design is filled, rather than open, you could try also using lightweight organza as a topper. It cuts away rather easily if you can put a bit of tension on the organza while cutting around the design edges. A guarantee of no pokies. It's so fun to try all the different types of embroidery. Free standing lace (FSL) is so much fun and so are frayed edges and fringed patterns. Enjoy and have fun.
Towel - hoop tearaway and pin towel to the tearaway. Do NOT try to hoop the towel. One to two layers topping on top of towel, depending on thickness. Even if the first stitchout fails, the second towel will be great. I was scared to do towels, but enjoy them now.
Good tips. I practiced on inexpensive face washers first until I got the hang of it when I first started.
