I have a Brother SE-400 and am new to embroidering. I would like to find some sort of software that allows me to use different fonts and would allow me to monogram items using 3 initials in a cute design. I found a program that sounded great, but it looks like it costs over $300. Does anyone know of a cheaper software or some other way that I can get what I want?

OESD offers a free program called ARTSIZER.. Go to their site and read all that it does. I like it for resizing, rotating plus it saves in a lot of different formats. Example you can get a design in PES load, open and then save in HUS> Site tells all embroidery formats it can open and save as another format. It also allows you to resize designs bigger or smaller. I love not having to have my dongle all the time.

PM me maybe I can answer some questions.

Welcome to Cute. I use PE design as I got it when I bought my machine but it is not cheap. Machine embroidery isn't a cheap hobby. I love collecting all the different fonts but seem to be a bit slow in using many of them. With PE design I am able to use any of the fonts in my laptop and convert them to embroidery files which is fun

What's your biggest hoop? You can line up letters in your hoop, unless you've already tired of that and want something you can play with more. I have a very pricey program in which I can manipulate fonts and it does everything but tap dance, so $300 sounds good to me, if it does what you want. Perhaps some other Cuties will have a suggestion on another program.

I would suggest checking out Embrillance. You can even get their Express to use for free.
