Just wanted to finally post something here. A new member of our sewing / embroidery group made several of these and I thought they were beautiful. I saw them also on YouTube after seeing hers. Well, I made one. I decided to sew snaps on and fabric glue the bows on. That way, I could unsnap and lay flat when I decided to put it away for another table mat. I sew and don't have too many of those! I love it but so disappointed that my kids never even noticed it or asked me if I made it. I made the Hawaiian Sliders for a quick sandwich and my husband told me later that whatever I put on them tasted awful and probably everyone else thought so too--see what I put up with! At least I got to see grands and great grand's. Something I hardly ever get to do even though they live fairly close--Everyone too busy these days. Just had a disappointing day on Easter. But, I can go on here and read everyone's comments and see your wonderful projects. That does cheer me up--you'll never know how much.

I love what you have made looks like a lot of time and thought went into it and the colours are so nice.
Well done.
Some people are just so insensitive and don't even think about other people's feelings. They don't do it on purpose I am sure.
I send parcels to relatives and have to call and say did it arrive? Then get "oh yes it did" If it is clothing I then have to ask did it fit. Makes you feel like you are looking for compliments. Others are so excited they tell you straight away. Guess who gets more than the other?
As for the food comment I would say I like them there is food in the fridge make something for yourself or go hungry.

Can just see this as a 'Wedding' sort of decoration. It looks very lovely.

Well , I think it is lovely. I know you had many hours in this. If you have made so many things over the years maybe they they thought you pulled out something from the past. Kay

Beautiful spring table mat. Love the idea of snaps and the little bows. Looks great.

What a lovely wreath! The fabrics you used just say "spring." Snaps is a great idea. I haven't done one yet as I really don't have a place to store one, but if it lays flat, it can store more easily. Maybe I'll try stitching eyelets on the corners and just use ribbon to tie them together.

I think that some things are so cheap in stores nowadays that it is cheaper to purchase than to make something. They may not even realize that you made this gorgeous wreath yourself.

You did well, and the bows you put on each flap just added the special touch. Don't you just love the cuties community, they lift up your spirits, and give you a lot of inspirations. I also made one as a fall wreath, and then one for Easter, ooops, have not taken the picture to post it.

How pretty Patti, the colours and the finishing touches are just lovely. I'm sorry no-one commented on it. I don't think the younger ones appreciate how much time and effort is put into an article of sewing. Love Chris

I am so sorry for your loss of your husband--my son does call most days and always asks how and what we are doing--my daughter--well she used to be so caring but now she and her husband care mostly about themselves--she is sick but doing well but they don't think of others very much. I try not to be discouraged so yes, Cuties are the best and are so uplifting. I read but not reply much anymore--Everyone deserves a star in my mind and all the pretty and lovely works of art on here is staggering.

Thank you Kim-my heart is a little more hardened but my Christianity keeps me going. Hope you saw your l little penguin girl on the embroidery page. Took me a long time to do her and so glad I did. Always other things seem to get in the way for me but glad to have her in my family and will be front and center on my Christmas tree this year! Maybe I can get my little 9 y/o granddaughter in front of the embroidery machine to try one as her gift to mommy and daddy.

My daughter never admires my sewing projects either, then says to people (in front of me) my mom doesn't make me anything. duh guess why? so we must just enjoy what we make ourselves. Your center piece is lovely and I do like the idea of being able to lay it flat when not in use very clever.

Yes, my daughter not in to it--I can see where all my stuff will go when I am no longer on this earth---Good Will or dumpster. Daughter in law might want something but doubt it--son definitely will take something I've made.

You are so smart to use snaps. That surely makes it easier to store. It turned out very beautiful. Love the colors. Perfect for Easter.

I wanted to try to find the clear nylon snaps but couldn't find them anywhere-went to one place online and out of stock but couldn't see paying for shipping anyways just for that.

I think it looks nice and how creative of you to put snaps! You must have hidden them with the bows as I can't see the snaps.
I've told you before, don't listen to anyone put you down....they must really be insecure to have to do that, to make them feel better.
I'm sure your food like your sewing was excellent.

Well, I ate the rest of my sandwiches little at the time as leftovers and heated up and I thought they tasted excellent. I am still eating my fruit fluff salad--and for the health nuts I even put out broccoli, carrots, and cheddar cheese chunks and no one ate that either, I think they all must have ate before they got to my house! My baked beans got devoured though.

katydid by katydid 19 Apr 2017

Put your husband in charge of the sauce next time. Homemade or store bought. If your fruit fluff salad had either jello or cool whip in it kids won't eat it. Don't ask me why. Remember the Watergate salad that was so popular for a long time, my granddaughters would not even taste it. Save those treasured recipes for your Bridge group or church pot luck.

The worst thing I ever cooked was a hamburger and vegetables casserole. My five year old started crying and said it was awful. Then his brother chimed in, so their dad tasted it and promptly told them they did not have to eat it. Of course, that made his wallet responsible for taking us to a quick hamburger meal out. P.S. I thought it was quite good. Opinions do differ!

They do differ--just glad he didn't announce it to everyone while they were still there. He will eat plain stuff for now on. He only eats fried things, hot dogs and chili, hamburgers and french fries and occasional roast and meatloaf. I have to buy what I want to eat secretly--terrible.

Thanks these sound very tasty

I love them. We served them at an event our homemakers in our county has called Holiday Wkshop where everything prepared is fast and easy. Only difference in mine was I didn't have the poppy seed to put over top of bun. He ate them when I 1st made them and he never said then that he didn't like them. Hawaiian Rolls sliced in half- spread mayo on bottom bun, layer with ham slices and swiss cheese--make a mixture of butter, onion powder, worchestershire sauce and poppy seeds and melt together-top the sandwich with top bun and spread this mix over it or pour over it. Bake in oven 350 x 10 min. Can make ahead of time so fast and easy.
