Hoping that someone can help. I have bought some baby blankets in a sale, hoping to embroider them for Pug Rescue. I normally buy fleece which embroiders easily. These blankets are shiny on the right side and more 'fluffy' on the wrong side. The photo shows the yellow on the right side and the blue/ green on the wrong side. Is this material called Minky?

I would treat it like fleece and put a WWS on top. I mainly want to know if it will embroider well. I need to add that they are very soft.

Hi Sarah...I see you have gotten your answer...I have done many blankets that look similar to these...one suggestion though...if you are doing any lettering, I would suggest that you add some "knock down" stitches around it (similar to embossing) so the lettering will not sink down into the plush of the blanket...If you need more information about this, PM me...

The Minky we have here is Aust. has the fluffy side as the top with the back being quite dull and visibly the wrong side, in saying this either side could be embroidered successfully. Use water soluble topper as Chris has suggested and maybe a wss or a tearaway on the back depending on the design used. Marian

Looks very much link Minky, I'd use a wash away on the top too Sarah. Great job on doing these for the rescue dogs. Love Chris

I replied in haste and now back from swimming I need to amend to, yes I put a layer on top of removable stuff, either the heat or the stuff Chris has mentioned. Or you could sew out patches and then add them later to the blanket. Anyway have fun and happy sewing
