Just spent four hours removing Windows Accelerator Pro malware from my computer. Felt like it was touch and go the whole time. I'm hopeful the problem is completely solved. If you got this one from an embroidery site, as I did, it has a little "helpful" popup window with an 800-number where they try to convince you your computer has a problem that they can solve, with your credit card. They are the problem. It keeps interrupting anything you try to do online and each time you log onto your computer. I got excellent instructions on removal by googling "Accelerator Pro removal" and selecting the Malwarebytes site's entry (four pages of instructions which I copied out by hand, as printer is busted). The big lesson is, when a site tell you your player needs to be updated to complete the download, escape and run from that site. As my son explained, the site may have put up the malicious link, but more likely they simply aren't aware they have been hacked. Aargh! Hope to be more smart and alert if this comes up again.

Was it the Sew4Home link that I posted? If so, I'm very sorry. I wonder why I've had no problems. Should that link be removed?

I think so, but it is probably okay as long as no one agrees to update their flash player.

Thank you for sharing this!!! I think you may have given me a clue as to what my frustrating problem is. I know just enough to be dangerous-lol- but will ask my computer gal to check it for me.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Please keep warning Cuties about suspect sites. And keep running the antivirus and malware programs.

I do know the site concerned. My McAfee gave me a warning and I did not go any further. Actually both you and I tried to warn Cuties at the time. Sometimes Cuties do not always read all the comments. Glad that you were able to remove the Malware.
