I do really small fonts for clothing labels for my clients and all I do is use a #9 instead of a #11 needle.......it creates a smaller hole in the fabric which allows the smaller font to stitch more uniformly and like Sarah, I slow the machine down.......
Thank you for the tip. I didn't think about a different needle, but that makes sense. I use #11 in 99% of my embroidery.
I've read this too, but I've never have heard from anyone who has actually used it for small fonts. I think it's a good idea. I hope you let us know how it works for you.
I will let you know if the bobbin thread works, the next time I make a quilt label.
Jerri, I am afraid that I cannot help with the thread but I turn my machine to a slower speed and have perfect fonts every time. Hope you find the right thread.
Thank you for the suggestion. I found a supplier in Canada, just waiting to hear if they have a supplier in BC, closer to me.
Madeira has 60wt thread . i have black red white navy and cream . Sews a dream .
Hilda in New Zealand
I think Sulky Polylite thread 60wt can be used for machine embroidery.
I will check it out next trip to the States.
I live in Canada, so not as many choices to shop.
I just want a couple of spools to keep for quilt labels, and the dollar exchange and shipping is so expensive, so need to buy it in a store.
I think most places have it. I already had this link, but I will see if I can find more
Thank you. I want to buy it in a store. I just want a spool for doing quilt labels. Our Canadian Dollar is very low and it cost a fortune to ship...
The smaller thread will give a crisper look. I decided to not start buying all the colors again and try to keep sorted out, but to buy black, white, cream and red.
Great tip, Rescuer! I do believe I've heard that too! I think bobbin thread is 60 wt
