I've never tried one of those, but I do want to share something I learned from personal experience. In our part of rural Arkansas, we have times when the power flickers. If I have my auto shut-off iron plugged in, when the power comes back on, the iron automatically heats up. Not so good when there are so many melt-able or scorch-able items in a sewing area. Now I keep my iron unplugged at all times unless in use. I came home once to a hot iron and a scorched piece of fabric and it really frightened me.
The sewing shop that I take classes at has one. They have had it for at least 2.5 years!
I have one...had it for about two years....I thought I would LOVE the fact that it popped up by itself, but for me, not so much. I use a Teflon iron cover all the time which I LOVE...it is so handy. It prevents scorching of any kind, I can keep the iron at a very hot setting and iron even the most delicate of fabrics, it is wonderful for applique and embroidered surfaces, etc...but the pop up feature is useless with the Teflon iron base, so turn off the pop-up...kind of a waste of money for me...I got it on a very good sale and that is the only reason I did not return it...good luck with yours...hope you like it better than I like mine....also, it shuts off and I prefer an iron that does not have an auto-shut off...they are much harder to find!
if you cut out the area of the teflon cover where the foot would pop out would it work?
Love mine. I have had it not quite 2 years and it is still going strong. Hugs. Nan W
so good to hear!!!! so many people who reviewed had only just gotten it and the rest had gone back on to say it lasted just under or just over a year!
I am glad you asked as I have seen them used on a few tutorials and thought of getting one. I too will be watching to see if anyone answers.
