I am pleased your customer is happy with your quote.
I was going to say that if you have ever had an Email from Hatch digitizing they have classes for you to learn the programs. I almost fell over when I saw the cost $600 plus for a morning session. That is not for the program just a lesson. So $28 sounds good. Question now is how much do you charge for future stitch outs seeing as you have the design all set up?
That might seem like too much for the one paying. On the otherhand, if you had to 'make' the verse, letter by letter, aligning each line up, centering even before you started to stitch....well your 'time' and 'stitching' is worth the price....How big is this verse? I see it's over 100 letters....Did you discuss a price beforehand?
The design is approx. 18 cm x 18 cm. I used Embird font engine so no letter by letter. She is happy with the $28.
Thanks
have you given the customer a quote let them know you charge $1 per 1000 stitches and how many in the design
Yes I let her know last night it would be $28. She sent back a smiley face so I guess she is OK with it.
Thanks
Keep in mind when you are fearful of charging too much that this is a service that they cannot provide themselves. In Southeast US, we are advised to charge around $1 per 1,000 stitches. I usually cut my price a bit around 45,000 stitches.
I do not think that your price is out of line at all. Like others have said, you may be charging to little. Here in Michigan, I charge between $7.50 and $10.00 for a 3 x 3 design and a name for quilt labels. If they want something larger or more involved, the price goes up. Do check in your area for the going rate. Good Luck!
I think you are charging very little for this work, it works out to $1 per word which is very reasonable. I agree with sewmum1 check with store around your area. Good luck. Marian
Here in Australia most places charge around $15AUD (approx $10.50US) to just have one name embroidered on a towel.
Your price sounds very very reasonable from a customers perspective, considering the number of words you have, however I wonder if you should be charging more. Of course this all depends on how well you know this person too!
Have you asked at embroidery shops in your area as they will give you a better approximation for what to charge in your location? Different states and even suburbs can vary in their pricing.
