After reading the latest entry on Nancy Zieman's blog concerning her retirement, my heart was carried swiftly back to the heartbreaking and very recent funeral of my very good friend. Colon cancer took my friend after a brave battle. She was one of the strongest people I have ever known!

Like Nancy, my friend bore her affliction with grace and humility. Cancer and the treatments for it are so painful. It is terrible the devastation they both have on a body. I miss my friend dearly and I will miss the inspiration of Nancy and her show. She was a kind and patient teacher for so many people she would never meet. I hope she and her family will be blessed with comfort and peace as she continues her journey to the end.

It sound like you friend was a wonderful person. I pray God will ease your heart every day more & more until you see her smiling face through heavens eyes. I pray this for her family too. I lost my 2 sisters to cancer, one in 2009 and one this year in March. I miss them every day. It was so heartbreaking to watch what cancer did to them. I find comfort knowing they are with Jesus where there is no more sickness & pain now. I treasure the love we had for each other and see it in my memories that I have of them. I am so glad we can hold love in our hearts forever. May you find comfort in the loss of this friend in your heart through all the memories you have of her. I know you miss her. God bless you.

Yes Nancy is an inspiration to us all and I know she has meant a lot to me. I cried when I read her letter to us all. I am asking The Lord to be with her each day she has left. What a beautiful witness her life is for Him. She is always the helping one. Praying for her family as they are by her side and supporting her and loving her! May God be with her, bless her and be near her now. Her life is in His hands. Dear Lord be near with your tender Mercy.

I do hope she has more good days than bad. I cried too. I have watched her show or parts of it for so many years. There will certainly be an empty chair in many sewing circles.

I had not seen any of this until today. I'm very saddened and our industry is loosing one of the leaders who has helped many of us through the years.
You will be reminded of your friend many times and I do hope that the next ones cause a smile on your face and sweet memories of things shared that are precious in your heart.

Thinking of my friend is bittersweet. I could not wish her to live longer with the pain, but I will miss her.
Any time I feel my limits, I think of women like Nancy that surpass their limits and become amazing. May we all be blessed with the courage to stand tall.

The tears in her daughters eyes as she spoke of gratitude that her mother was no longer in pain. Looking at my friend, reduced to 80 pounds as the cancer ravaged her body.
I hope Nancy has friends close enough to bless her through this and to bless her family after she is gone.

My heart aches for you and your friend's family. I lost my husband to lung cancer, my Mom to breast cancer and Mother-in-law to colon cancer. I too pray for a cure for this horrible disease. You will be in my prayers for peace, strength and comfort. Hugs. Baba

I agree, I think she has taught long enough and it's so sad her retirement time will be spent coping, with this terrible disease and treatments.
I know you miss your friend. Life can be so cruel, sometimes.
