It would be nice to hear how you solved your problems when people have taken the trouble to give you some suggestions.
The free Bernina ARTLink will do what you need. When you Open Artlink, a window will open so that you can go to the folder that has the file(design) you want to open. At the bottom of that window it asks what file type you want to open. If you scroll down that list to the very bottom you can click on "all files." That way it'll open all files regardless of its file type. Then you can edit it...adjust size, colors etc. You just have to be sure to save it in EXP format so that your machine can read it.
Remember that you need stabilizer and embroidery threads to stitch out your design too. If you need help with that, you can post again here. Everyone is very helpful and will give you advice to solve whatever problem you have.
There is a learning curve to all of this, so start small and experiment with all the different functions. Once you catch on to how it all works, you'll enjoy using your machine. I did not use the embroidery module to my Bernina for two years! So I understand how you feel.
Also, if you bought your machine locally, you can go back to the dealer and they will help you too. Your manual will help with the hooping process.

According to the manual you need .EXP files, which the free artsizer can convert to. Then you trnsfer them to your machine via an USB stick. Did your machine come with one? Usually those have a rather small capacity (1Gb in case of my Ruby). And those are hard to get - and rather expensive. However, the size of the stick is not critical, but the total amount of data is. Rather than buying a small and expensive one I bought a cheap 8 Gb one but do only use a fraction of that capacity. And it works perfectly.
I use my Melco machine 99% of the time, so I no longer have my Bernina hooked up to a computer, I just use a usb stick to transfer designs over to the machine.........and the Bernina uses .art files.......
Welcome to the Cute family. Glad you have found us.
Like sandyqueen noted. You can use a USB stick for transfer, but note that most sticks are larger then 256 MB. I left you a link where it stated that it should not be more.
I also noticed that you mentioned EXT files. I am not familiar with Bernina products, but do not recognize this particular embroidery format.
Welcome and I'm glad you have gotten good answers. Everyone here is so friendly and so ready to help in any way. I hope you have fun here and before you know it, you'll be the one giving help to others.
Further research tells me you can use a USB stick to move designs from computer to embroidery machine. You will need to research which size USB stick to use and what size files work to transfer,
Check out this site. Also visit your dealer for help.

I have removed your previous post.
OESD has a free program, ARTSIZER, that does the following.
I like it mostly for seeing my designs. I have BERNINA software for major design stuff but don't always have my dongle when I use my laptop so use ARTSIZER.
This program allows you to size, rotate, mirror and convert designs to another home format. It reads and writes most embroidery formats: .art, .arx, .pes, .pec, .emd, .gnc, .hus, .shv, .vp3, .vip, .jef, .sew, .exp, .pcs, .pcd, .pcq, .pcm, .csd, .xxx, and .dst.
