Well done on both projects. Kudos to Ashley for learning to sew too.
I love Nora's piano bag and you are an Angel to help her with it. Love Chris
You wouldn't think I was an Angel Chris, when I have to walk out of the room so I don't just take over, because Ashley is sewing at the slowest speed my machine will go!!!-lol- I literally can see the needle go up and see the needle go down and see the needle...well, you get the idea.-lol
What a great idea for a young lady just starting her adventure.......so refreshing to hear kids are still being taught music!!!
Nora's other grandmother, has been teaching piano for over 30 years, maybe 40, not exactly sure. I know she taught her sons and also girls older than my 36 year old, when they were young. She is teaching one of the little girls at out church and she is eleven. She played a song for us last year, at church. She also gives adult lessons. I know she teaches every week but I don't know how many days a week. Nora just goes on Wednesdays, right now...I love the fact that she takes ballet lessons something I would have loved to do as a child.
awesome jobs to both of you, Toogie! Nora has quite the decorating eye, and Ashley picked an adorable fabric to go with the book. Talent runs in your family!
I'm with Nora! I like the pretty stripes.
I say the girls are spot on.. Great job on both.
So so glad someone new is coming into the sewing world. She put cording in also way to go, tell her to keep up the good sewing. A great fabric choice of the book.
Agree Nora did a great job selecting the happy fabric, makes the piano keys and words pop.
You have to be busting your buttons about now with those 2 sweeties.
lol- I am glad Ashley, my 36 year old, is learning to sew or even showing an interest. She loves flower decorating or decorating period, so she is 'into' the crafts, just never had time to try sewing. That is why I wanted Nora, my 4 year old gd to learn and why I bought her a real machine. Maybe they will learn together. Thanks for encouraging them.
Love projects, for both, the piano bag looks much more happier in this color. Yes, don't you think we would be happier if we just use the colors we love rather than what we are supposed to use? That is why I love crazy patchwork, I just use whatever small pieces of fabric I pick up.:-)
I know what you mean about colors. I find the older I get the brighter colors attract me. I don't need to dress in them but I like them in bags and such.
both projects are excellent. so nice to have someone to stitch with.
Lovely bag. Nora was right I like the rainbow stripes too. Ashley did well with her bag gift. Hugs
Thank you Shirley. Nora likes her bag but says now I can make the black and white one too-lol
Love the colors of the bag! Nora did awesome on choosing her fabric. She'll cherish it more as she was involved in the process! Great design stitching also. Ashley did a wonderful job on her pillow. I think it is a wonderful gift. You are getting everyone involved in the fantastic world of sewing! Kudos.
Someone has to learn DebB, as I will NEVER sew all this fabric up......unless I do live to be 100!-lol
I love this book pillow idea. You and Nora did a great job on the bag. Maybe she will be your color specialist and help you select bag fabrics and color combinations? Glad you made her music beginnings special.
I liked the pocket pillow idea too and when I showed Ashley, this gave her the idea of what to get Rylan for his 1st birthday.
The other grandmother is Nora's music teacher, so making her bag, included me in a small way, too. She has also started dance and all her lessons are on Wednesday, so with that also being a church night, her day is full.
I do think Nora was insightful.
Ashley did a Beautiful job. She gets my gold star. Ashley has proven our young ones can do. My gd made reading pillows for her older cousins last Christmas. But the shop lady told her mom that cording on the top of the pocket was too difficult for her.
Well, I say the shop lady should have encouraged her. Piping or cording is not difficult and she shouldn't have made your grand-daughter scared to try.
I think it is wonderful your gd made them reading pillows and I know they were proud of the pillows and her. Good for her!
Great job to the three of you! Well done!
Hugs, Lidia
Great work Toogie. Hope Nora enjoys her piano lessons as much as Ben enjoys his.
I think she does and she loves her dance lessons too. Her teacher said she is a natural. That is high praise as she hasn't been in class very long....I always wanted to take ballet lessons, but back then, my daddy thought it was a waste of good, hard earned, money. I cried.....so glad Nora is getting to though!
They are both outstanding! Great job by everyone...especially Nora!
Thanks...I just love that child and things she comes up with....like the brown stocking 'rollers' not matching her dress!!!-lol
The Piano bag is just perfect love how it all co ordinates. She sure has an eye for design and colours.
The book pillow is just so lovely and well made. A perfect gift for her friend. I think presents that are made are so much more special as you have to think about what colours your friend likes and you want it to be well made for her. Ashley has done a lovey job of it.
This little book is so 'just right' for a growing child and I would recommend it as a gift or just to read. It tells about all the people you could be and whoever you turn out to be, you are loved for who you are. She is giving it to Rylan for his first birthday. I think it will be a keepsake gift.
As for as Nora, she knows what she likes. She is only 4 but about 1 1/2 or 2 years ago if her daddy tried to dress her, they would be arguing and mom would ask what the problem was. Nora would say she didn't want to put the clothes on, because 'they don't match', to which Ashley would tell her husband, they don't!-lol
Little Nora is right, she will surely enjoy the new colourful bag, lovely design. Congratulation to Ashley for the cute book pillow she made.
Hugs to both, Roberta
I will give the piano bag to her today and I believe she will like it. When her mom showed her this photo of it and asked Nora if she liked it, her answer was 'Ye-ah", so I guess that means she knew it was going to come out like this-lol-I will tell Ashley your comment about her sewing.Thank you-Toogie
