Does anyone know what this is? I found it in my ton of stuff and have no clue whether it goes with an embroidery machine or regular machine. The metal part is a hoop and it looks like the arm goes in a hole somewhere.

I got one also. It came with an older Bernina machine and i also have a larger red round one. I have had Bernina machines since the early 1980's, so I have no idea which ones they came with. Somehow these got left behind unless they go with the one I gave my daughter. I think it was a 930 or a 1130. Kay

I have one, too. Goes to my Bernina 930 from 1976! I've never used it. :)

I find it so much fun to learn about interesting bits and pieces of our machines. I'm glad you asked and happy you found the answer.

It's a little hoop - as taydc has suggested. Love Chris

I have this! Do you have a Bernina machine? It came with my Bernina (older model) when I purchased the machine. How can I explain it in English?! I shall try...

Using Wikipedia and the Google translater :) You can use this when you have a small hole or worn area in fabric or knitting. I have pictures in my manual how to use it , too bad that I couldn`t put those in here.
Squeeze the two "buttons" toward each other and remove it from the frame. Put the parsnip in the middle of the frame and put the tensioner back. So the little hoop keeps the patching point tense and smooth so you can fix the hole or worn area. Hope I explain it understandably....

Oh, and yes the arm goes in a hole to stay in place and you move the hoop while sewing. I rarely actually used this myself .)

I don't know, but do you have the manuals that list the items included with the machine...usually on the first couple of pages?
