We are so spoiled here on Cute! I was looking for a design I saw on a social networking site. When I found it, I discovered that the one design was $32 to purchase the right to use it. Not to purchase it for commercial use -- just the usual gifts, bazaars, etc. The cost of using embroidery designs has really gone up!

When I started this, available were cards and sets for $100 and more. Thank heavens for all those old aol sites that people put freebies on. The era of reasonable prices for designs was one I was glad to see. Not going back. There are still some who see their work as very valuable, it might be, but they would sell more if it was more in line with others.

Before I found Cute, I regularly paid more than $60 for a set of designs. Once, I paid $135 for a disk with one design set! I am so very glad that all changed.

This month Secrets of Embroidery is having their Treasure Hunt & I found some design sets that were usually $78 for $1 by just looking for my favourite designers who are taking part in the hunt .
Usually I keep a list of designs that I like & wait for them to come on special to buy, sometimes by the time this happens I don't like them as much ,so money is saved.
Anyone who doesn't use the US dollar has the extra expense of currency conversion & exchange rate to add to the final costs of a design often making the final price TOO expensive.

During my search, I saw some of those sets. I think it would have been easier for me if the one design was part of a set for $32 USD. I just can't imagine paying $70+ for a design set. Cute is still a much better buy. 30 designs on that Treasure Hunt sale would be $30. That is the same price as 6 months and all the designs here (more than 6,000 now) on Cute without a special sale.

Do the same as you killercrankie. Sometimes you get whole sets for a dollar and includes several sizes also for the dollar.
You also get reward points towards more designs and I think it is still double rewards points at present.

Memberships are great when starting out after you have got your first embroidery machine.
I have had Cute memberships in the past purchased on sale & still have all the designs from then but now I find that there are some design types I do not want or have a use ,so I only buy what I will use.

My initial thoughts are usualy no way, but to look at it from a different perspective I have spent $25AUD on sewing patterns before and then only used them once depending on the pattern. Do I get my moneys worth, usually yes because I would not have made the item otherwise.

So if I need a special embroidery design for a gift or something then I will pay. After all it can be used more than once. I did actually buy one a while back that was around $30AUD but it had several designs in the one project making it quite useful.

I have also bought numerous memberships to various sites over the years or bought other embroidery designs that I have barely used if at all. So I figure designs or memberships are worth paying for if you get use from them. I have far too many designs sitting on my computer waiting for the one day I may want to use them. So designs I pay good money for I make sure to get my moneys worth! LOL

And to add even with membership not on sale, all cute memberships are fabulous value, I have used so many for gifts over the years and certainly had my moneys worth

It is always good to look at things from another perspective. If it were a difficult design or one that the digitizer paid a lot for the art... I would find it easier to understand. However, it was a very simple ITH credit card wallet. Since I first saw the expensive one -- I have seen several similar credit card wallets for $20. Most (and in my opinion the best) are offered at around $5.
Thank you for letting me see it through your eyes.

Yes Cute has a huge amount of affordable but quality designs on offer. A number of years ago I remember commenting on the exorbitant cost of some designs I had seen and no I didn't purchase.

You are so very right! AND the designs from Cute are digitized well so you don't have to worry about getting worthless designs that stitch so poorly you have just wasted your money! Over and above, we have a caring and sharing worldwide community that is priceless! Don't think I have seen ANY design that was worth that price...don't think I ever will!

I don't understand charging $32 dollars for one design! It would have to be some special design! And I can't think of anything that would be worth that much! We are very spoiled on this site. There are not any sites that come close to offering what this site offers. Thank you to Ms. Veronika for the site and to everyone else that makes the site what it is.

I agree 100%. We are spoiled with fabulous designs but also with the information, ideas, companionship and compassion we give and get is undeniably priceless. I have my grandchildren to talk and share with but most days this is the adult conversation I get to listen to. I seldom respond but I always read and send prayers and flowers. This site and all of you are very much appreciated. Thank you with hugs, Barba

Uh oh! We've got to find you some additional adult conversations. The people on here can be crazy! $32 for one design. And then we play with hoops and threads and color and cloth for hours on end to make something to give away. Crazy. Don't you love it?

I for one would never purchase it. I am amazed how they stay in business. You are right we are so spoiled here. The membership is a great deal. Not only that, but all the caring for each other and friendships that come with it is priceless.

I started a block of the month collection. I paid for the first month and was unimpressed with the quality of the design. It will cost about $60 for the set. My first block is also my last!

If I can't sell a certain number of items with the design on it, I don't buy it! I know it takes a lot of time to digitize a design, but I'm of the opinion that you sell way more if you are reasonable. And they don't have to re-digitize it each time someone buys it!
