Hi wonderful Cuties!

I am still struggling to heal from the surgery. Today I tour the facility where I will get my Chemo. They are going to go over all the ins and outs and all the meds

.

Wednesday I have more surgery to put in a port in my chest for the chemo

Thursday is my first Chemo treatment. It will take 5 hours. I am not looking forward to that.

Could you all keep me in your prayers again.. It is comforting to have God on my side. All this is so daunting and scary. Thank you all you have been so wonderful!

HUGS Suzanne

Rob and I love you and will be praying for you very hard all this week. You will never be alone or without prayer cover. And a huge thanks to Meganne for her advice. It doesn't get better than from someone who knows it from experience.

Take a friend with you if you can Suzanne, as the time goes much quicker if you have someone to talk with.

A couple of magazines and a biro to do the puzzles, or a good book to read, won't go astray. They usually have pillows and blankets and a ready supply of tea/coffee/juice and biscuits, at least the clinics here do.

I'm glad you are having a Port catheter, it's the best way to have chemo as it causes less damage to your veins, besides, it is so much easier getting a little prick into that than having a new Cannula inserted at every treatment.
I found it hard enough having a blood test before each treatment. :-)
Besides that, it will allow you to have both hands free to do the puzzles or knit or crochet or whatever hobby you feel like doing.

Remember to keep a diary to record your appointments, your meds and when you need to take them, and anything else they tell you, though they will probably take care of all that plus give you a lot of written information, so make sure you read it.

One thing that is very important is to make up the bicarbonate of soda mouth wash, every day, and use it religiously!!! Believe me when I say it really DOES help prevent mouth ulcers and you don't want to test going without as they are very painful. Ask me how I know. LOL!!!

Please try and look on all this as an experience, rather than daunting or scary, it is prevention and life saving!!!

Some people get through chemo with no side effects at all, others feel sick and nauseous but you WILL get through it!
So, you might lose your hair, it's a great opportunity to experiment with hats and different styles of wigs. I was amazed how good I looked as a BLONDE!!!! :-)

Make sure you eat REALLY healthy food, no junk food! Your body is going to need good nourishment but be careful, because contrary to what most people think, you may put ON weight.
Chemo, here, includes steroids and it is these that contribute to weight gain.

Your oncology team will tell you all this and my reason for writing it here is so you can see that chemo treatment is basically the same, for everyone, everywhere.
It is all just a matter of which drugs they will give each person, the dosage, the frequency, the number of treatments, etc.
It all comes down to each persons cancer type, stage, grade, their age, medical history, their general health.

Hundreds of thousands of people have gone through chemo and survived to share their experience with others in an effort to ease their fears so I sincerely hope this message will help you.

I'll be thinking of you and feeling every treatment with you and wishing you an easy time of it all.

Huge hugs and love xxxxx Meg
