I quite often buy clothing with zippers in colors I can use at the local thrift shop...so I try to always check those zippers. It's even better when they have a "bag sale". Sometimes I can get 6 or even 10 zippers for $2.00 !! At that price, I don't mind ripping some stitches. But you gave me a good reminder to always check the zippers. Thank you.
Last time I made an ith zipper bag I forgot to move the zipper to inside the bag so I had to redo the seam around the outside
An yet another reason for me not to work with zippers, Sarah...LOL!! How frustrating that had to be, but thankfully you worked through it.....
Great tip. I never check zips for my projects. Do check the buying clothes though. Thanks for the reminder. Hugs. Nan w
Learnt this lesson years ago. When buying a zip I always zip it up & down to see if it works before I pay for it.Another test I use on zips whether they are in a garment or not,is to pull the top ends of the done up zip apart to see if it opens up,if it comes apart ,it means your garment zip will come undone with movement, very embarrassing in trousers.
Glad you were able to save your project. I must admit I don't always test a zip myself. But if buying clothes I always give it a good test. Have found some on Jeans that don't work.
Boo Hoo, Sarah...so sorry this happened to you...and you are so right...lesson learned! I hope you were able to salvage the bag!
You bought the zipper. How dare it not work! I've never even considered I might get a poor product in a zipper. As we say in the South, "bless your heart".
I can see how frustrated you are Sarah. Been there too in the past. Something your not going to forget in the future
That had to be frustrating. I have to admit that I never tested a zipper before. I guess I was just lucky. No mishaps so far.
I have found out the hard way on zippers also!!! Always test them now....
Thank you for sharing. I don't think I have ever tested zippers before inserting!
OO. Good thing it opened. Rub with a candle or pencil (graphite) It will go easier.
