Thanks to Mops for posting her picture of the Virus meets granny square shawl.

Just after I saw it, I was given a huge bag of yarn (as if I needed more!) which was a late friend's stash. Mops picture inspired me to search for the pattern and I discovered the Fiber Spider on Youtube. It was love at first sight.
I followed his brilliant video to make this virus blanket from some of Polly's yarn. I didn't really need it after the first few minutes, but I so enjoyed the video and listening to him explain.
I've already started a poncho with some of the heavier weight yarn..........

It's beautiful. It feels holy to me to use materials or equipment from someone I loved, who is now departed. A reconnection with them.

You are right. Often when I'm sewing, I pick up a piece of fabric from my sister's stash or that of my good friend who died several years ago and the memories start to flow.

Great job. Love the shells all around. It really improved on the original granny square.

I absolutely love it. It might be my next blanket! Those shells look as if it takes ages to do them correctly but your fingers remember in no time. Thank you for the idea of a square.
