I have 3 Vikings and you can use either VP3 or VIP doesn't matter. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have for the past 10 years. Juanita from Missouri

I have a Ruby which has vp3 as the preferred format, I usually download both vp3 and vip. when available. Older CUTE designs don't offer vp3, but as vip works equally well, I DlL that. I recently used .pes just to try it out and the machine did what the manual promised: it stitched out beautifully.

I'm assuming since you ask this question that your machine is used and you were not given the owner's manual...

According HV, this machine should read most common home embroidery formats including: .SHV, .DHV, .VP3, .HUS, .PEC, .PES, . XXX, .SEW, .JEF, .EXP, .10*, and .DST. Also, VF3 embroidery font files.

Consider downloading the manual using the following link from Husqvarna Viking.

I have a Husqvarna Diamond which is 9 yrs old, VP3 is the preferred format but you can use several other formats without using software to convert designs to VP3.ART format doesn't work .

I do not know since I do not own a Viking machine. After researching it for you I came up with the following. Looks to me that it uses VP3 format
