Lovely photos and story. Glad it all went off well. Quilts are beautiful. Hugs
Thanks Shirley, I went to another presentation today. It was nice as well and beautiful quilts.
The quilts are beautiful Glad your husband got one,. I started one but couldn't finish. A friend of mine finished it for me.
It doesn't matter because it was finished and made with love and care. I suppose I will eventually join, just not a great time right now. I guess you could say 'I have too many irons in the fire' so to speak.
Acts like this make my heart so full that my eyes have tears of joy. I am blessed just reading about it. you are all blessed by being partakers. The quilts are beautiful and the ones who did this are also. you Toogie are a jewel for the way you thanked them. How proud I am to call you friend and sister.
You always make me feel loved....Today I went to the presentation closer to my home. I feel guilty for not joining right away because both groups have asked me to join, but I need to catch up on other things at home first.... Even when I say that I wonder if I'm just dreaming of ever catching up....I was surprised that 2 of my cousins were being honored today, so I was extra glad I was invited. One cousin is 84 and had married a german lady while stationed there. Margaret doesn't go back anymore as all her family have passed on. The other cousin is around 70. He had received the Purple Heart twice in Vietnam. In fact 3 of the group had received the Purple Heart. One was a Korean war Vet and 2 were Vietnam war Vets. If I can load my cousins picture from my phone I'll add it later... Have a good night Mrs Lillian.
I have tears looking at the smile on his face. He deserves every bit of thanks and certainly the recognition of receiving this beautiful quilt. Please give him a Cutie hug from all of us. And to you, a huge thank you. You also served alongside of your handsome hubby.
You too know first hand how things are. Soldiers everywhere go, protect and serve where ever they're sent, at times separated for long periods from family.... Little Nora doesn't understand all that yet, she just knows she loves him and feels proud!
Karen he sometimes has that effect on me, when I look at his face. I tear up wondering where all the years went!-lol
Yes, I do understand I think you can use a hug. So you have several on the way.
Please tell you husband "Thank you for your service". I am glad he received this beautiful quilt.and thanks for sharing this occasion with us. I am glad to see this sign of appreciation for our Veterans.
What a fabulous tribute to these wonderful men. So proud for you all and such beautiful work on these quilts. God bless all the servicemen and women. Gorgeous picture of the family too Toogie. Love Chris
Thanks Chris, just wished our son could have been there too, as he was born while we were stationed overseas.
Wow, Toogie. Hasn't this been a two extra special quilt year for him? I sent you a PM.
He shouldn't freeze, uh?-lol- I answered your pm one night, but it gave me a error message. I just now rewrote.
How wonderful...and thanks to your husband for his service!
What a very special day for all of your family and for the recipients of these heartfelt quilts. The guild in my valley made 90 Quilts of Valor for 90 veterans who were each receiving a house built for them in our valley by Habitat for Humanity. Each one got a QOV which was presented to them when they were given their new homes...So glad your gifts worked out well.
There was a lady there that belonged to QOV. She just moved back there, but belongs to a group closer to my home. She said they were presenting 18 quilts Saturday and invited me to come and meet the group of quilters. Of course, they would like me to join that one too....I know it would be rewarding for me, IF I had time, to not get stressed out by having to do yet one more thing. Right now is just not a good time for me to join, with my trip sewing and I still want to make quilts for each of my children/grand children.
Beautiful quilt (all of the quilts were gorgeous). How sweet you are to make the holders and key fobs for the quilters - you did such a nice job on them!! You must be very proud of your sweet husband!! Hugs, Laura
I am proud Laura! His poor mamma if she were still alive would tell you I nearly drove her crazy the first year we were apart. I played a song on the record player with the arm out so it would play over and over again, Please Come Home For Christmas by Charles Brown!
google song if you never heard it-If you haven't heard it, then you're young-if you have, then you're like me!-lol
