Yes, this is a problem with the thread industry. I can't help you, but I find that when they do this, there simply isn't a perfect match. Getting color cards with thread samples, like mentioned below, is the best way to find a "close enough" match if you can't find a coversion chart.
Well, I had the same problem when they switched to the new Pro line...I called them and they told me to compare the thread charts to find colors that would be the same or close...I told them I did not have the new Pro thread chart and they sent me one...Looking at both the original and Pro charts, there is not an exact match. The closest blue to the original 1815 would be the Pro 7532...but it is a bit darker blue, but the same hue/tone as the 1815. That's the best I can do for your match. It is what I would order if I wanted to get close! I would strongly recommend ordering the thread chart which has actual strands of each thread if you are going to order more thread from them.
Try asking the company if they have a guide converting the old colors and numbers to the new colors and numbers. Hopefully, they will be able to help. This has to be so frustrating!
Do you have a picture of what the blue looks like and where do you live. I have some Metro Threads but not sure if I have your colour
If you look in projects you will see the banner I did. I used that color as it exactly matched the fringe.
I am afraid I don't have any 1815 left either. Try contacting Metro to see if on of their new "pro" colors is really the same as 1815.
