Hi Carolyn, in the 1960s when I got married to an English soldier, I had to give up my German Nationality and become English. That way I was protectec by the Queen when being posted to “fighting” countries - like Aden, South Arabia.
We have been to Aden and had good and bad times.
When people ask me “what is a like to be English” my answer always is: “ I am sitting on a fence and I can see both sides - good or bad.”
