One of our expert quilters , Ricky has given U an excellent answer, follow her lead & u want go wrong *4U
You do not need any stabilizer on top unless you embroider on blankets,or towels, or anything with a nap. This keeps the embroidery on top instead of sinking into the nap . Then you use a WSS. Ricky.
Sweetie, I'm not a quilter so I am sure you will get some real good advise. Just remember to always stitch out a sample first and make adjustments as necessary. What software did you buy? I t will help others answer if you have trouble. Good luck.
purplex, I would use a mesh cutaway on the bottom and the light plastic looking water soluable stabilizer on the top, perhaps two layers. Please share your project with us - we would love to view it.
Redwork is one of the easier things to embroider as the stitchcount is so much lower. Stabilizer for the hooped fabric should be light if this is going to be a cotton quilt. Do not use a tear away as the stabilized effect will be lost in subsequent washings of the quilt. No stabilizer is used for the top. Top stabilizer is only used when the fabric has a nap (like velvet or fleece) or when doing lace.Go ahead and embroider and good luck with your quilt
