Try YouTube and search for ITH (or In The Hoop) Zipper bags. Maybe watching a couple of them will give you the idea. Please let us know if you figured it out.

I would put your question in the Embroidery section as more people may see it there to be able to help you.
Not sure what design you are doing but sounds like In the hoop zip purse.
If so usually after the fabric is stitched to the zip facing right side down you lay batting down on stabilizer and then fold top fabric back down over batting with the right side of fabric facing up.
Hope this makes sense.
There are some You tube videos on in the hoop projects you could watch to see how it is done. The first time foe everything is always hard. This is a good site for help as it is so friendly.
Don't forget to show it in projects when finished.

The written instructions say you can and wadding after attaching the fabric to the zip, then stitch leaves and seeds before adding the last two pieces of fabric and more wadding, I am confused as to how to do this

I would say the first two pieces of fabric and wadding you sew to bottom of zip fold down and stitch leaves and seeds. The next two fabrics and wadding would go over top of zip and folded up for the top of the strawberry. Then you should have a full piece of fabric that would go over all this for back. Hard to say without seeing design. you tube the best source
