Made her a pair of shorty pajamas, as we used to call them. Then I thought she needed to show her patriotism so made a reversible swing top and bloomers. I made Nora some like this a few years back and my niece had a little pink one when she was a baby. I loved them, so I tried my hand at making a similar doll pattern. I got the arm hole opening a little big, but they were big on the real people patterns, too. If I make another at a later time, because I have to wrap it up, birthday party is tomorrow, I will try a little smaller armhole. Oh well, I hope you come take a second look. I just showed my daughter and she said,"Wow Mamma, these are awesome!"-lol-made me feel good anyway. I hope Nora's reaction is similar.
*I decided to embellish Betsey's (lol) green dress, the last minute and the PJ's.
Toogie, I want a dress like the diagonal stripe, will call with my own measurements - yeah, right. I do love the three dresses and Nora should be well pleased and busy playing while you travel. Have fun.
I just wished I could look as good in a dress!-lol-Thanks Betsey, I'm still not packed!!!
You are so clever. She will be thrilled with this lovely gift. Love Love the shoes. Hugs
No cleverness on my part, I just followed the instructions/pattern. Thanks, tho and I really like the shoes too.
These are so cute! You amaze me with your speed.
Have you tried Sue Dewberry's "Engineered in Stitches" dress patterns? She has sizes (depending on the size of your hoop) that fit dolls up to small children. They are machine smocked and SOOO cute! You would be a whiz at making them!
*******resized photo & included all shoes together*******
I got two more pair made, with my little helper in tow. Not too proud of the brown Mary Janes. I was trying to put the sole on and the hot glue was stuck on me, so don't look close. Also this vinyl is thicker and less manageable, but it was given to me so can't complain. The turquoise blue ballet pair were made off the Mary Jane pattern, with a little alteration and no strap. They come high and hug her foot so I'm happy with them. Thank you all for your kind comments. I will try to answer each later. We have a wake to attend after while, a classmate of mine died. -T
Toogie, I love you, I love you! You never cease to amaze me. You have to be related to Superwoman. These are fantastic. Makes me want to play dolls with my Greats. Abby came bringing me a doll yesterday she bought for 50 cents at a yard sale.. Wanted me to fix her. Looked like a Cabbage Patch Doll that had been through atornado. Coming apart at every seam. I put her all back together and sewed her up tight. 8 yr old Abby left her happy saying" I knew you could fix her . Oh what we do to make our Grands happy.
I'm not surprised Abby brought you her baby to be fixed. After all you are a nurse and also a retired nurse who sews. I grab any chance I can to sew. By the way, the love goes both ways!😍😘
You did a great job on the shoes. And the long pants look like bell bottoms to me. Super dooper job on all.
You never cease to amaze Toogie! I haven't tried any AG shoes yet. I tried to make some without a pattern for my Mom's large china doll, but bogged down halfway through, so they are currently stashed somewhere and incomplete.
wow, these are gorgeous !! and the shoes are so great matching with the outfits !!
Oh, my I am so impressed!! These outfits are wonderful! What a great person you are - You deserve a trip! Happy Birthday, Nora!!
Just a question. Is there anything you can NOT do? Those outfits are beautiful and those shoes........well perfect.
Angie make yourself an eye examine appointment 😉😂- they are far from perfect, but she won't care.
Your shoes are great. I have been wanting to make some shoes, but none of the greats have gotten an American Doll. She will be thrilled!
She's not a real AG doll but sure looks like them. I ordered her some time ago and have had her put up for when Nora was a little older. You should give the shoe making a try. Just be careful with the hot glue gun!
You are a machine Toogie, great work all round. Happy birthday to Nora and I hope you have a great trip. Love Chris
Thanks Chris, I need a break but I know with all that is planned, the flight, etc I may be even more tired to come back and finish babysitting Rylan. He has a month more to go and hopefully the neurosurgeon will release him to go to day care. He is so lonesome to play with other children.
Oh my goodness! They are all awesome. Can't believe you did all that i one evening. Hugs. Nan
Well actually it was 2 evenings, the evening she reminded me and the next evening when I posted. Thanks Nan, I'm not sure if I will get anymore made before Sunday.
Wow Nora will be over the moon with these pretty outfits and shoes.
Wow, Toogie! You did a fabulous job and in record time!! The shoes are adorable and those are great outfits! Nora's gonna have hours of fun playing with these! Now, get to bed! LOL!
