The love of a mama has no bounds. It's beautiful and so is your heart.
I have to agree with Amy, the green one looks better - more “Christmassy”.
Both are beautiful.........blue is my favorite color but I love your green one too........
Blue or green, you did a superb job with this quilt.
I prefer the blue one. Hugs!
You know you could have left it blue, and then she would have thought of you every time she looked at it and said, who puts blue in Christmas? It's great both ways and wonderful designs.
You know Betsy, I thought that too. We actually have a “blue Christmas “ at our church for those who are lonely, depressed or have issues with no family. Love Chris
wow you did a lot of work to make her like the quilt. But I must admit, I do like the green more as the blue one. It's more Christmas..... I'm sure she will love the new colour and will appreciate your extra work. Hugs, Gerry
Hi Gerry, yes, it does look more traditional and will suit her home more as she is a lover of green. I haven't even told her I've re-made it yet! She will get a surprise once it's all finished. Love Chris
Awwww Chris. I loved the blue. It's more YOU. The green is lovely. I believe though I would have rather done a new quilt with colors she liked and kept the original as it was.
Ha ha, may be one day I may make some more. These Santas take hours to make. They are absolutely the most beautiful Vintage ones I've ever seen. Every time you choose a different fabric it just makes him more handsome! Thanks for your comment. Love Chris
That is what I call love. I am not sure I would have been willing to do that. You are a super mom. Your quilt is awesome and a double work of love.
Thanks Angie, well at least now I know it will be somewhere it will be appreciated. Love Chris
With the lovely blues in the Santas - I think your original blue is my favorite. The green is very pretty though - I bet it was hard for her to tell you her preference!!!! You're a good Mom!!! Hugs, Laura
That was why I chose the blue Laura! There were so many of the Santas in the blue. You got it! No, it wasn't hard for her to tell me, she's a straight talker!!! Love Chris
Hi Chris, nice to see the picture. I'd gone through all your post until 2014, then I gave up, just a year too soon.
A lot of work to do all the sashing and corner squares again, but if that means your daughter will love it it's worth the trouble.
I LOVE the blue, but like the green as well.
Hi Martine, I loved the blue too it was a great contrast and that picture was taken with a flash so it looks so much brighter. The traditional red and green is her favourite! Love Chris
Sounds like a lot of work to me. Was it professionally quilted before?
If so I would have said it goes to someone else and if you really wanted one to go to Amy do another one in the Greens.
We all know Blue is your favourite colour.
Hi Barbara, no it isn't quilted yet. I have only sewn all the Santas together and now have the green sashing. I've found the original post from 6th March 2013 with a picture of it with the blue sashing. Love Chris
My dearest Chris, It is lovely with the green sashing, but it makes me sad that you re-did the sashing from blue to green...If I were lucky enough to be the recipient of such a family heirloom, it would mean so much more to me to receive it as you created it... a true expression of "you" and what you were feeling and thinking when you made it. If we endeavor change family heirlooms that have been made by our loved ones...they are no longer really the true expression of the maker.... 😪 Sorry, Amy...can't support you here...
Thanks Kim for your thoughts. I know what you mean, but I thought I'd rather have her happy with the final result, so I changed it from the blue to the green. I did post it I think 8 years ago when I first put it together. Love Chris
I am a big fan of the blue sashing....although, I do love that you made 5 more santas and changed the row configuration...It will be beautiful when quilted and finished.
Looks nice with the green. Hope Amy likes it more now. Hugs
