This first pic was Avery almost a year ago, at Christmastime, right before her 13th b-day. I always liked the second picture of her and her oldest brother, but it was about 3 years ago. I can't hardly believe it! I have more photos, but they are not as good as these.
Well, I read your post on Wednesday and I want to tell you, I too had tears in my eyes reading about the new equipment. I am so happy for the family! When she is laying and listening tell her to think of the thousands of Cuties who love her. Flowers, hugs, and prayers to you and your family, Suzanna
Ah, thanks Suzanna, I will tell her. Just talking to her makes her smile. She is a happy soul.
Excellent! Life will be easier and safer, Best wishes to you all!
It is good to see they have had this equipment installed. Will be a great help when getting Avery showered and in and out of bed. Huge hugs for all.
WHAT A blessing this is! It will make life a lot better for both Avery and her family and caretakers. I always wondered about how much my back was being compromised. I tried to not ever twist or lift our son Ben, and he was somewhat able to get himself into the backseat of the car. Then after he passed away my body just fell apart, especially my back. You just don't realize how much toll it can be taking care of someone with special needs. I'm so relieved Avery and her family now have this! Do they have something no to help get her into the car? Hugs!
No, they don't Jan. They still have to lift her in and out of her chair. These medical aids may not seem like much, but when you need them, it means a lot....They are still saving for the van, so she can roll up in it. They did look at them to see what best fit the need of Avery, while still sitting all the family. Also, to check out the price. I'm afraid it may still be a while just getting a hefty down payment....do any of you know Oprah?-lol
Try your local service clubs for donations, Optimist, Lions, Sertoma, etc. Just a thought. And churches usually want to be part of a big project like this.
Local service clubs? We are so rural all we have are 3 local grocers, 2 pharmacies, a bank, 2 dollar stores and a school. The nearest town is 20 miles and one with a fabric shop like JoAnns or Hobby Lobby is about 40 miles.
Sorry, I didn't realize anyone was as far back in the trees as me! It's a life we choose, right? The nature, the snakes, the skunks, the deer eating my daylilies down to nubs... Ah, the sparkling pond, the silhouettes of the trees as I drive home at sunset...
Such an improvement! I am so happy for your family and you. This must make life a lot easier for everyone.
Yes, it has been needed. I will try to post a photo of Avery and Mason I like, but it is not recent, and she has grown more since it was taken. She is a load to lift! (of course, I hope no one ever has to lift me!-lol)
The right medical equipment can really make a difference and I am so glad they now have it for Avery. It will definitely make life easier for Avery and her family.
What a blessing. I'm so happy for you and your family.
I am so very happy for you all. What a difference this will make to the whole family. Lots of love to Avery
I was with Avery the week-end. She was so drowsy. She is used to getting up early, but she hears EVERYTHING and the night before I'm sure she lies awake listening-lol-Some of the other kids were swimming, but she didn't care because she could hardly stay awake. We were all at my other daughters house.
That definitely will make life easier. I am so glad you have it now. It is sad how expensive medical equipment is.
It is shameful for sure. My husband has built things when he could to help her, only because it was so expensive if health insurance didn't pay.
What a amazing thing to have happen, this will make daily hygiene much easier and definitely safer or both Avery and Ashley.
I agree wholeheartedly! It takes some time getting her ready and even I can't imagine Sunday mornings at their house getting not only Avery, but the others ready, for early church.
You have to start the night before, or get up very early, or it is impossible!
lol- they have two services in the morning and stay for both as Ashley plays. So Sunday afternoon, everybody needs a nap! Nora can dress herself, but Gus is 3, so he still needs help getting dressed.
I'm so happy they were able to do this, for Avery and especially for them and for their aching backs.
Toogie I am so proud for you all. I know how this will help . All will benefit and be safer with this equipment. It will be a blessing.
It truly is a blessing already. It's hard to hold someone in a wet shower all soaped up and I was scared she would slip away from Grayson's hold on her.
Of course it is beautiful - something so helpful and so very needed! Thank you, Toogie, for sharing!! Hugs to you and yours! Laura
Thanks Laura, they still have to lift her in & out of her chair to travel. Hopefully they can one day get the van that is so needed too, so no more straining, and she can just push her chair inside. Hugs back to ya!
