Hello Cuties, I thought I'd show you the quilts I just finished piecing and one that is still at the LA quilters. These five are going to veterans at a church nearby. Others made for the group too, but I don't have their quilt pics.

1 is called Gettysburg (bc of the tan fabric) the panel I started with, is inside the tan border
2 &3 the same quilt is called Thank You Stars-the panel is inside the narrow navy strip. The small white stars framing the panel was just a row of stars printed on the fabric. I barely had enough to piece and make it around the frame. I pieced the larger stars on the off white making them appear to 'float'. I liked it better once quilted. (The 3rd photo was before quilting)
4 &5-are the same pattern just some pieces are different fabrics.
6 is called Thank You Braid-it is not quilted in this photo- the braid was made with my half hexie ruler. It has the same thank you panel as in pic 2&3 but look how different it looks. I will try to post after it's quilted, if you'd like to see.
Like I said these 5 will go to the group at a church.
The next one (#7 and 8)was given Aug 8th to a Navy veteran. Someone passed me the Navy branch material (lighter blue) with ships, etc on it. I was also given the gray with airplanes and choppers to use on it. This pattern is the Rhombus Star from MSQC, Jenny Doan altho I used the size she made her baby quilt stars.
I can't close without showing you these two after they were quilted. The first #9 &10 is called Airmail. Remember I showed you it was the very first one I pieced? It is going to one of my brother-in-laws for that reason. Look at the message the LA quilted in the frame border.
Lastly, is Unchained Liberty, for another brother-in-law. Look at the quilting on this one and it's not computer programmed. She does it free hand! She is the same quilter than quilted, The Eagle Has Landed, in another post I made. Amazing work this lady does.
Anyway, I hope you like my 'quilt show'-lol I told the lady over our QOV group, I may not make anymore until after Christmas. I have 40+ more gifts to make for a trip and I want to make 5 more quilts or at least tops, for my own kids Christmas.
Hope you're all having a good day-Toogie

I just put up okra and bell pepper. Our garden didn't produce much this year but one of our QOV ladies gave me 1/2 bushel okra yesterday, about 30 bell peppers, some banana peppers and some fresh pork sausage. Today we helped our oldest daughter Marsha shell purple hull peas. Tomatoes to your elbows sounds good to me!-lol

They are all beautiful, Toogie and amazing! You are certainly "banging" these QOV quilts out one after the other. Such a big undertaking. Lucky that there is someone to quilt them! Great job by both of you.

Yes we are thankful, for all the volunteers, including our quilters. The quilt still goes back to the one who pieces it for binding and labeling, unless the one who pieces rather not. We do have some ladies that get others to sew the binding over by hand, after they attach it by machine. I sew my own, to not only speed up the process, but I just like finishing the ones I start.

Orangetiger this was added to show you the before fix, but a tip for all.

TIP: If making the braid with the half hexie, it would be wise to stay stitch the outer edge within the seam allowance, before adding the border. See this wave ( photo below) when I matched the bias edge to the border?๐Ÿ˜ฉ
Now look at # 6 (above )photo, how flat it is after re-sewing.๐Ÿ˜€

I am blown away. Do you have a time machine? Where else could you find the time to do all of this? And bags? and care for loved ones? and post on Cute? And then it's all beautiful as well.

You're too funny! The only bags I've made lately are 5x7 ITH bags. I didn't sew while Rylan was here but boy the weekends were something else! As far as posting on Cute, I haven't that much because I do stay busy. Right now I can post cause I'm having back trouble๐Ÿ˜ฉ Again.

About 6 or 7 hours sleep a night lately, so that's really good for me. I know you make quilts too, but you haven't showed us lately.... Or have I missed them?

crafter2243 by crafter2243 05 Sep 2019

No you have not missed them. I have gotten a mini longarm "Coronet" from Baby Lock. Have been busy finishing other peoples UFO's or quilting the work of others.

Oh Chris you are right about the group. Our veterans are so appreciative and we tell them WE are so appreciative of their service! I counted I have made 9 QOV tops 60x80 and 1 personal quilt 90x100 since February. I don't know if that's good or not but its more than I made last year๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

The putting together is what's fun. Now of course there is always the exception. You see the Thank You Braid? I had all the outer navy border fabric sewed on. I decided to go ahead and serge over the seam because it wanted to ravel. Well I did that before I laid it out and really looked at it. Oh my! The braid made it so wavy! The edge of the braid stretched because it was on bias. Needless to say, after ripping/un-picking all those long seams, I stay stitched the braid edge and sewed the border back on. I am happy to show you how flat it is now๐Ÿ˜ƒ

You're making me blush, I'm no different than all of you. I have fun and so I hope it also makes someone else happy. I asked for an eagle panel different than the last two, but we had no more. I knew of one lady that had one or two and she said I could have one of hers. She'd like to make the other one, but she doesn't know when. She asked me if I made all my panels different. I said I try to!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
