I originally posted this in Q and A but was asked to repost this here for better visibility among Cuties. I have a new computer with win 10 and I updated embird with the newest version. Some of my design category files are very large and I find that after a certain number of icons are displayed with embird's iconizer, the icons become blank squares and the computer becomes non responsive. I then have to close up everything. Consequently I can not see the entirety of the folder to see what design I want to use. I was told this is possibly because of my antivirus software but I am wondering if the iconizer has a limit to how much it can show. I had the same problem with a different antivirus program on my prior computer and thought I needed to get a new computer with more memory because of that!. Does anyone have a similar problem? Is there a way around this short of splitting up the file into multiple smaller files? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. I am not the most computer savvy :(

Hi Lynne . Are you still having the above issues or did your computer person figure it out? I am still struggling with a similar inability to see all my designs in a folder before the folder become non responsive and the computer shuts me down. If you found a solution, could you tell me what it is? Thanks.

I too have this problem so bought a new computer with more memory but it didn't help very much. Everything is fine until I have been using it view designs, file them etc but eventually I have problems with the screen - blank spots, areas go black where there should be headings or writing, screen freezes etc. By turning off that particular folder and leaving it for a few minutes it usually works again but gets slower, repeats the problem, the screen freezes so I close the folder again. A few times of this happening I have to shut down my computer, wait for 5-10 minutes then restart it to continue what I was doing before I shut it down. This whole process continues to repeat it'self until I become too frustrated and give up on that specific computer activity and work on something else. It seems the bigger you make the icons the more quickly the problem occurs and repeats it'self. I have a computer expert/repairman coming in a few weeks and will ask him to investigate, but am suspecting it may have something to do with size of the operating memory. Will let you know the outcome. Good Luck Lynne

Forgot to mention this has been happening for a long time and I have been working with Embird 2007. I updated a few days ago and nothing has changed -neither better or worse so I'm though I'm doubtful it has anything to do with Embird I cannot be sure.

Hi Diana, Firstly, I haven't upgraded to Windows 10 nor have I upgraded Embird since last year, but I have been using the program for ten years now and there are a couple of things you could try which should help if the problem is an Embird issue.
Before you do anything else you should try getting Embird to run a self diagnostic.
Open Embird, go to HELP, in the top toolbar, scroll down to "ABOUT" and click on that, it will open another screen (pictured below) Click on Test Integrity and let it run, it should tell you if it finds any problems with the Embird installation. You should write down, or copy any messages that it brings up so that the Embird developers can help you, if the program itself cannot fix any issues it finds.
Another suggestion would be to try downloading Embird again but make sure you disable any, and all, antivirus software while you are doing the download. Anti virus programs are notorious for preventing some bits of embroidery programs, (that it doesn't recognise), from downloading, which can then prevent the program from running properly once installed.
Make sure if you are going to do this, that you uninstall the current Embird first, because if you don't, Embird will, then it will probably reboot your computer and start the download and install, and you won't have had the opportunity to disable your antivirus software.
If you still have a problem with Embird after you have tried the above, then you should ask Dusan Balara for help, support@embird.net
they are awesome people only too willing to help their customers.
I hope some of this is helpful. If I can assist you further please PM me.
Hugs n roses, Meganne

Hi Meganne. Are you going to update to Windows 10 as from January next year windows will not be supporting 7 anymore. I am considering getting a new computer as this one is getting old. Not sure about Windows 10 though. I read where it can be made to look like 7.

I can not help, but hope someone will be able to. In the meantime maybe some issues and answers from previous Embird post might help. Gave you a link.
